killer whales only stopped ramming ships in the 1900s and resumed again recently, when I was a lot younger it was sometimes claimed that orcas ramming ships was a sailor myth even though there are several recorded cases

feld,
@feld@bikeshed.party avatar

@sun this seems to imply we just didn't keep records

> “Outrageously” priced weight-loss drugs could bankrupt US health care
Prices would need to be dramatically slashed to avoid increasing the national deficit.

Wait why is the government paying for it? You're telling me Medicare/Medicaid will fight like hell to not pay for things people need to live but suddenly they're willing to pay top dollar for weight loss drugs for every obese American?

it doesn't make sense

Just heard a car driving away with the security system / horn going off so I can only assume it was being stolen

appasrently there is a new assassings creed playstation 5 game where you play a black samurai nicknamed "guro futanari" I encourage you to google his name to learn the truth about this fascinating historical figure

I mean, if you're going to take the whole "the grinder is the most important part of the equation" thing seriously, why not prove it. ;)

Rancilio Stile grinder paired up with a Breville Bambino Plus. The PF almost sort of works in the Stile's PF holder. 7.1sec gives 17.5g dose.

@coffeegeek @espresso I've never been able to trust grinder dosage so I always weigh each dose and put it in the hopper instead of keeping the hopper full of beans

feld,
@feld@bikeshed.party avatar

@lawyerjsd @coffeegeek @espresso when I owned a cafe that was our method too. Every day lots of single dosages weighed out into little cups. Seems tedious but every shot pull was almost identical

Damnit I hate GBICs. Two of these fuckers can look identical but one won't work in a specific switch because it's tagged with the wrong vendor or doesn't support some obscure feature the switch vendor stopped supporting.

Just a thought… Wouldn’t it be nice if capsicum in could be used in such way that you didn’t need to alter binaries, but from e.g. daemon(8) which would jail your binaries with the restricted capabilities

feld,
@feld@bikeshed.party avatar

@mpts @rvstaveren if you just want to use jails for all services you can modify rc.subr to add a new jailing feature where it just shares the same root filesystem but all the services you specify are in a jail with some lowered capabilities and it behaves like a cgroup in that fashion

I wish some people took this seriously and pushed it as a core feature because it would rule

Does anyone happen to know if it is possible to get a projector for an open space at ? I have some ideas that involve discussions of code where it would be useful if a participant could share their screen with a larger group.

@encthenet @meejah I've been bitten by the unexpected rust dependency a few times so if this is planned to be a drop in replacement it's greatly appreciated

Good to see this, but this is very true:
"public industry specification for these Bluetooth trackers that have been around for over three years now says they care more about profit than protecting people – they'll get around to the safety features as an afterthought,"

Tracking devices and stalking were problems years before Apple brought the airtag to market and was a known problem to anyone who looked at news about them, but Apple chose profits over people's safety.
