Democrats ask America's most corrupt Supreme Court justice, Clarence Thomas, if he would be kind enough, pretty please, to explain more about his corruption...
He is, of course, not explaining anything -- and daring anyone to do something about it.
No doubt about it, ChatGPT upended Apple's roadmap. True disruption at work.
"Apple executives are said to be concerned that AI threatens the iPhone's market share because it has the potential to become a more compelling operating system with an ecosystem of AI apps that undermine the App Store. Apple apparently fears the iPhone becoming a "dumb brick" compared with other technology.” https://mastodon.social/@macrumors/112418294057786439
@stroughtonsmith@macrumors
Wait, this story is from NYT's Brian X Chen, the same guy who declared that nobody needs to upgrade their iPhone for camera enhancements since you can just use a flash in low light?
@daringfireball
Must be nice to pontificate on privacy abuses by foreign-owned companies while applauding the same behavior from US-based companies and the government agencies they're in bed with.
This is what you get when your mindset revolves around “us vs. them” rather than “right vs. wrong.”
"ALICE" is the acronym for "asset limited, income constrained, employed" -- basically, folks who have jobs but ones that don't pay terribly well, and possess little wealth
Research shows this cohort of the American population is growing ...
... and they're stuck in a bad spot, policy-wise: They earn too much to quality for low-income government support, but too little to be comfortable amidst the big soaring costs of housing, health care, education and transportation
@clive
The only reason "ALICE” has fallen in Florida is because of all the folks who've fled due to unaffordable housing, coupled with all the newcomers who are the reason behind the unaffordable housing costs.
@stroughtonsmith@9to5Mac
Competitive strategies aside, am I the only one who finds this mockup... underwhelming? It's not just aesthetically bland, but also functionally dubious, given the information they chose to prioritize. Air quality? Time zones?
@daringfireball
Another bad take from the increasingly reactionary Gruber. Let’s see how long before TikTok gets bought by Palantir/Peter Thiel and Gruber celebrates that as well.
On a related note, I’d love to see a parody account simulating daringfireball bad takes in previous historical times.
@siracusa
I liked part 2 better than part 1, mainly because part 1 had so many scenes where the casting or dialog choices were distractingly inferior to the Lynch version. Also the pacing was better.
Apparently Apple Music for Mac has rabid fanbois (they are all men. All of them) and they are on Threads?! Of all the truly shitty products to stan, you want to defend Apple Music on the Mac?! I’ll defend Apple Music on iOS, even tho sync is a shit show, but on the desktop?! Man normies are weird.
@film_girl
Apple Music is trash on every platform (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS), and I say that as a subscriber. Infuriatingly bad user interface, seemingly designed by people who don't actually listen to music. In fact it seems designed by people who long for the days of listening to music on commercial radio. Almost as bad as the Apple TV UI.
@film_girl@waltman
Putting aside your own music library, consider for a moment discovering new music from artists you follow. Sure, AM can show notifications for each new release. But amazingly there's no way to see a list of latest releases from artists you follow in reverse chronological order. And then there's the convoluted, disorienting, and illogical navigation throughout the app.
@daringfireball
Holy shit, you really seem to be on a mission to outdo every bad take with an even worse one… all while demonstrating a shocking lack of self-awareness for overpaid blogger who hasn’t held a real job in over a decade.
I think I've narrowed down my small backpack search to the Aer Go Pack 2, Aer Pro Pack Slim, and the Fjallraven Ulvo. Any opinions, particularly around how small they pack and how well they protect your laptop, gimme 😛
@christianselig
I have two Aer sling bags. Though I can't speak for the laptop protection on their larger bags, I highly recommend them in general for their excellent materials, design, and quality.
