๐Ÿ‘€ Not bad. Though honestly expected more from users ๐Ÿ˜ค

Table is further analyzed from the kaggle site: https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/fourtonfish/mastodon-social-alt-text-use-by-client-app

hallenbeck,

@cheeaun @stefan I post a lot of text based screenshots. If Phanpy had the OCR thingy, I'm sure I'd add the alt text more often. I usually try to copy paste from the source, but when mobile and in a hurry I sometimes can't for various reasons (mobile UI for copy and paste being terrible is one; sites disallowing copy paste another). I'll sometimes use Google Lens too. But OCR build in would be the best.

Incredible. Never thought I'd see them like this in my lifetime.

I think following specific hashtags of a profile would be useful. Technically it's like following a profile but the timeline posts filtered by specific hashtags. Perhaps similar logic on Mastodon, to hiding boosts from profile or filtering posts by subscribed languages.

Could probably solve the issue where folks create multiple accounts for different interests or circles.

hallenbeck,

@cheeaun YES! Hugely useful for following sports. E.g., , and the hashtags of the individual teams and clubs, like and for instance. I created this here separate account for just that purpose because I found it impossible to mix my 'normal' account with this one; I was forever afraid to boost and post about sport because it's irrelevant to 99% of my followers there.

Also, being able to add hashtags to lists would be huge. As would being able to share lists.

Tension between Salah and Klopp on the touchline earlier in the game but the ref has now blown full time and Liverpool while mathematically still in the title race, most would say their title campaign is over. Looked over when they lost to Everton but now it certainly looks over. A title win on Kloppโ€™s final season was not to be.

hallenbeck,

@paulk_

The difference between clinical and volume of shots. If Slot can bring in a clinical finisher*, I suspect Liverpool could ramp it up a notch next season. They're not as hamstrung by FFP (particularly squad cost) rules as most of the other big teams (aside from us, of course).

hallenbeck,

The xGOT stat is sorely forgotten in most discussion about xG. It's really important though, because xG only represents what came before the shot. It doesn't say anything about the quality of the shot itself. xG is the quality of the chance. xGOT is the quality of the finish (or the quality of the save).

@cheeaun This has probably been asked before but in case not: is it possible (as in technically in the future) to filter lists by hashtag? E.g. I have a bunch of accounts in a Football list but it's very noisy. I'd like to be able to show only posts that contain certain keywords and hashtags, e.g. a filter like " 'Tottenham' 'Spurs' 'Postecoglou'". This filter could be toggled to easily switch between an "all posts" and "filtered" state.

Is something like that possible?

hallenbeck,

@cheeaun It's such a shame. Mastodon is tantalizingly close to being great for following specific, esoteric things (like a football club), but it has these limitations which make it so hard for just the sort of person who needs it to be easy. The custom filter lists in Bluesky are somewhat like what I describe above and they work quite well.

Big news ๐Ÿ‘‡

A draw is a fair result. We looked very WIP today. Still a long way to go.

Honestly Edge browser need to chill down a bit on the Copilot marketing. That's a huge icon there ๐Ÿ˜…

hallenbeck,

@cheeaun

It's not even the correct logo. The Copilot logo on the copilot.microsoft.com site is a much more fun rainbow colour.

But tbh, what Microsoft should do is make more of a big deal of Copilot being GPT-4 Turbo for free, which you have to pay $20 a month for on ChatGPT. Seeing as MS basically owns OpenAI, they should put an ad to that effect on the ChatGPT site ๐Ÿ˜…

Successfully moved from mastodon.online to mastodon.social.

All that waffle in @theverge interview with Jay Graber about things such as Bluesky being better for portability, and AT Protocol being more centred around the user, and that somehow servers are bad, and... ah, I think @reckless1280 just didn't challenge her enough. I'd think what I'd much prefer is a proper panel debate, not a one-sideded AT evangelism/sales-pitch like that.
