I think it’s mean to refer to someone who has passed as “the late,” how can they be expected to be on time, they’re dead.

hernanca,

@MissingThePt the person previously known as alive

Richard Stallman is so off the grid it's insane https://stallman.org/stallman-computing.html

hernanca,

@nixCraft I wonder if he ever talked about his threat model. I mean, he's not wrong about the absence of privacy on the modern internet but some stuff is just too trivial to protect this zealously.

No NAT November is an annual event that encourages Linux sysadmins, developers, and network engineers to go thirty days without setting up NAT. Who is up for some challenge?

hernanca,

@nixCraft no NAT + your own domain

A year ago today the Missing The Point account was started on Mastodon by a starry-eyed newbie with nothing but big dreams to make people laugh and the best posts AI could generate. Throughout the day this thread will share the top ten most-favorited posts of the year, along with some behind-the-scenes commentary.

In honor of Missing The Point’s one-year Mastodon anniversary, you are hereby granted a day off work tomorrow, simply show this post to your boss. Enjoy the three-day weekend.

hernanca,

@MissingThePt thanks for the posts, Ms. Point.

Please tell me how fast your internet speed is, but use the wrong unit.

hernanca,

@nixCraft 300 MHz upload, 50 MHz download.

I think I'm being target of a phishing attack to my cellphone sent through "Flash SMS".

I frequently receive a message that's automatically displayed in my screen about having won a TV, with yes/no buttons underneath. No matter what I do, a web page automatically opens. The URL points to qrl[.]adc[.]bz/[...]. To mitigate this, I put my phone in airplane mode as quick as possible.

Does anyone here have information about these attacks?

Please boost for visibility.

hernanca,

I use Firefox Focus as default browser, so my online data and accounts are safe.

But I'm worried about exploits and remote code execution.

hernanca,

@rysiek thanks! I rebooted already and now waiting again for the attack to happen again so I can take a screenshot. I use Android with the latest security patches. I will keep an eye open for weird behavior.

Macron is a fool if he believes the current riots in France are caused by 'video games' and parents not controlling their children

Instead of shuffing the blame and turning France into a police state how about addressing the real problem and fight the racism in the police..

I'm totally against the violence but somewhere I can understand them, enough is enough. Young people don't accept it anymore

hernanca,

@stux this is typical right wing rhetoric, seems like he's trying to fire up and capture the support of conservatives since Macron is running out of political capital with almost everyone else.
