I would never accidentally be off by a decade when ordering heat-shrink tubing, why do you ask?

janamarie,
@janamarie@chaos.social avatar

@timonsku (not sure, but I think shrink tubing has quite some power?)

Today I figured that I can just use a pulse-density-modulator to dim a LED that I forgot to add to PWM/Timer IO 🤯

It is surprisingly simple and can probably even work without using floats. You can see me switching from 20% to 80% on time on the output in the second image.

A graph window with three lines, an analog one switching from 0.2 to 0.8, one switching in steps from -1 to 0 and another one switching from 0 to 1 proportional to the analog first line

@gsuberland yip yip, I know that already, thanks! Didn't want to implement that today though :D

janamarie,
@janamarie@chaos.social avatar

@gsuberland (to elaborate on the why, that was of course my first thought, but if I were to do that, I would use a self modifying timer. A timer that DMAs its own counter value into itself to get the timing with no CPU interaction. The timers Update interrupt would then trigger the LED task, I didn't want to debug yet another DMA transfer though and I wanted to find a new way, so I did :3)

I just love 3D structures on PCBs (like PCBs plugged into each other) 🥺

So uhm, there will be a new version of OtterCast soon, with a focus on simplicity, accessibility and being cheap. Instead of a 234-ball BGA there is now no part more complex than QFN, furthermore it will be possible to have it fully assembled by JLC. There will be PoE and an on board amplifier, converting your passive speakers into a PoE enabled multi room audio setup. More infos soon~ :3

The same board held at a different angle, pinched between my fingers
Its bottom side with not much to see except for port descriptions

@blinry OtterCast is an open source home audio streaming system, think Googles ChromeCast Audio, but open source :3 (to be a bit more specific, the OtterCast environment is currently two different devices, OtterCastAudioV2, audio streaming to line level and OtterCastAmp, with integrated amplifier. Both can receive Airplay, Spotify and Snapcast, in addition the amp has a line in that is also amplified. It has been my reliable home audio setup for years now :3)

And there is PoE ^-^

Exited about this, it’s the first time successfully implementing PoE in a project for me :3

I brought my Olympus 35 RD to this year and took a whopping 72 shots, … just to find out later that the camera jammed twice, unnoticed by me ;—;

There were 0 pictures on one film and just 1 picture on the other, the single picture is of course a compose of an unknown number of other shots. That however turned out to be a very happy accident. I love the resulting picture, so far I have found 13 (!!) separate shots within! :O
It’s so colourful and vibrant, I’m so sad about the jammed camera

I finally managed to get the image I took at scanned! :3

Looking at this Fuji X mount to Canon EF auto focus adapter again after I put the project on the shelf for a while.
Will solder some wires to sniff the communication on each side. End goal being to understand the X mount protocol. The EF protocol is already fairly known so that should help make educated guesses what stuff means on the Fuji side.
