Is it really so hard for a PM to use words like “please”? I reiterate that I can do their job, quite poorly. They cannot do mine and we need to work together.

Does anyone know where to find a cast iron electric waffle maker? Ours has a tefflon coating and I would like to no longer consume those particles. While modern PTFE is better there are still health risks with what is still in there. I was once at a hotel that had a cast iron waffle maker that flips. Everyone I’ve aeen for sale is not cast iron. The best I can find is a commercial unit for $$$$ https://www.wafflepantry.com/liege-waffle-maker/krampouz-brussels-waffle-iron-WECDBAAS.html

Star Wars Day is also Comic Book Day? Getting down my tiny collection to see what I have so I don’t double buy almost covered me in dust bunnies. Also, as I wear a star wars shirt of some sort about once a week, I decided I should put on a star trek red shirt, but I don’t own one. I guess The Expanse will have to do.

Open source raspberry pi based sprinkler controller is running. I still have to print a housing to mount it. Right now, it's hanging from the cable running out to the solenoids in our under stair closet. No AI, no cloud service selling my data. It's wonderful so far.

The middle position of the kitchen faucet lever didn’t turn it off. One had to hunt to turn it fully off. The only place that had a 1-5/16” socket in stock was the Napa warehouse in Commerce City. I also managed to drop the old cartridge and it exploded, thus revealing the failure. Where there should have been a plastic ring around the base of the lever, some of it had turned to white gooey mush. The movement of the ceramic plate against the metal base was interesting. They glide like on ice.

I don't understand why more people don't bike. Dude took the time to open his window and shout something at me. How dare I ride down the middle of the road with a bright flashing white light.

I finally took a few minutes to disassemble the old center differential from our Subaru; and sweet noodly appendage, the smell, the horrible smell of burnt viscous coupling fluid. Gear oil smells horrible. Worn out gear oil smells horrible plus some describe it as dead animal. This ads another layer of perhaps burnt dead animal.
If smell-o-vision were a thing this is the smell I would send to my enemies.
First picture shows the plates and spacers. The fluid is supposed to couple them together.

If they're just going to trash them it's worth opening them up to see if I can find what's wrong. The only issue was the connector to the battery got loose. So I decided to gut them and keep everything as spares. I pulled everything out including the cable that runs between both sides. I had to desolder many wires but made note of which ones go where. The plan fine print says if they elect to cancel coverage I'm owed a pro-rated refund. Getting that back is my next step.

""The other school of thought is to let these big companies take control of the key functions of your cars. License an operating system from Google,... but directly wired into the car," he says. With a company like Google in charge, "there is an update mechanism for it, just like it updates their Pixel phones. The question is, in 10 years time, are you still going to get updates for your car once Google gets bored and tries to shut it down?""

I am now actively looking for a software engineering job. BSEE. Over the last 10 years I have primarily worked with modern php (7 and 8) using Drupal, but am also fluent in Javascript, Python, C, etc. I can do front end type stuff but am happiest working out API requests (sending and receiving), dealing with complex data sets. I’ve done Single Sign On implementations using SAML in both directions,

My default of do it your self and you have no one to blame but yourself rings true. My wife got me this watch before we got married. It’s not super expensive but Festina was a major sponsor of the Tour de France for years, their official time keeper and their team was found to be major dopers before Lance Armstrong. Thats not necessarily completely a negative; performing enhancing drugs have been a part of professional bike racing for a long time.

The extremely slow but warmer way to wash your car, one part at a time. I’m replacing a piece of trim that’s losing its vapor deposition chrome plating with the black version. I brought the grill inside to give it a quick scrub since my hands were already cold outside and iI hadnt gotten them wet yet.

Ugh, woke up at 3:30 and I can't even blame partner's snoring this time. So, did some laundry and tried to roast coffee. I just got a new batch but the beans are quite different. I ended up making charcoal. Walked to the nearby coffee shop who was just opening and bought their beans. How's your morning?
