I'm trying to test thermal shutdown on an IC: if it gets hot enough, does its thermal regulation work? It has: an ADC measuring die temp via bandgap, a hardware bandgap that cuts function at a specific temperature, and a write register that you can set a value into so when it exceeds that value it shuts down. The important one, the hardware that should cut the power section, is way off. It hasn't tripped at 200C.
So today I talked to a running chip through liquid solder. That's a first.
@smellsofbikes heat gun? thats how i once tried to reproduce field failures of a product that kept letting its smoke out. never could reproduce. The conditions were way over whatever they experienced in the field.
Zero cashiers. Only self-checkout. My hands are shaking a lot from the heat and struggled to bag my small amount of groceries. Kept dropping everything.
Going in grocery stores: zero stars, do not recommend 👎
@ashleyspencer That happened to me at a Home Depot. I walked up to the three employees overseeing the self checkouts and said, "I'm sorry, but I don't work here."
@ashleyspencer None of it is your responsibility. Heck I felt cheated that I had to put my credit card in the machine. That used to be the job of the workers too.
On a side note. I bought a mountain bike at a yard sale for 5 dollars it’s a GIANT made Rincon I think it says it’s a custom. https://www.giant-bicycles.com/ee/rincon-1-2022
Fixing the tire and oiling the chain… and gears do I need special oil?
@EVDHmn If you want to go down a rabbit hole: https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au/ tldr; Assuming the chain hasn’t worn too much, almost any “wet” lube from a bike shop should be fine. Muckoff products should be avoided. If you want the longest life, waxing a new striped chain is they way to go, but the most complicated.
This research shows that aptitude for learning foreign languages is a stronger predictor of learning to program than basic maths knowledge.
"These results provide a novel framework for understanding programming aptitude, suggesting that the importance of numeracy may be overestimated in modern programming education environments."
So there’s this Murderbot Bot on Mastodon, and the number of times I’ve read one of their posts w/o seeing who posted it and then wondered what the heck new apocalypse thing was happening is… more than just a few. https://botsin.space/@murderbotbot/112462854639476568
@ashleyspencer I’m no expert but look into continuation of coverage and contacting your state’s insurance commissioner. The former may only be for cases where you change plans but it wouldn’t hurt to check. There’s also these folks who may be able to help, https://www.patientadvocate.org
