I miss a nice software conference, small event maybe, whatever but where I can listen to people talking about software development, problems and how to solve them, and/or talking about why your favourite framework is trash and you need to use this brand new created last week.

But not just for the content itself, also for the people.

Guess what I really miss is software development community. Coffee time talking about whatever random thing, bragging out about your new laptop, or just telling how did you survived last extreme situation at your company when your lead randomly decided to switch from PostgreSQL to SQLite.

@villares That's also my way of life :-) I use to go to this events for the people, more than the tech itself.

We have a hackerspace but I guess we're just few people and it's pretty unknown, so not sure if it will work but I can give it a try. Specially now when summer is coming and loooong days are nice for this

@itsfoss I'm using both, so... My gaming experience on Linux is provided mostly by Steam Deck, and I don't miss anything there but some games are not available on Linux properly (like Minecraft Dungeons). Rest of my games are running on console, and some others, Steam for Windows.

The oldest 30 active pixelfed.social users will be invited to beta test @loops this weekend if everything goes as planned.

More pixelfed.social users will be invited over the next few weeks and eventually we'll be ready to open to everyone.

I want to get Loops shipped ASAP, even if it means delaying some major features (comments, notifications, mentions, hashtags) by a few weeks.

    Hace ya bastante, escribí un par de posts en mi blog sobre cómo montarte un servidor de Minecraft en un VPS de 3€. Sin embargo, me quedé en lo básico y en Minecraft vainilla.

    Este último año, mi pareja y yo hemos estado jugando en un servidor que teníamos contratado en Nitrado, pero empecé a ver problemas con el rendimiento, y Nitrado me ofrece como solución pagar más. ¿Mi alternativa? Me hablaron de unas máquinas gratuitas y nada despreciables en Oracle Cloud... así que lo he migrado ahí.

    @lordvalor En su día intenté montar uno en mi Raspberry Pi 2, pero se quedaba algo corta. Me imagino que los modelos modernos, o al menos de la 4 en adelante, serán capaces de mover un PaperMC (fork extremadamente ligero de Minecraft Server) sin mucho problema.
