New wallet idea: One of those stick on card/money holders for the backs of smartphones, but stuck on the flip cover of a PDA instead.

I wonder what is going on with Pine64 these days. They haven't announced any new products since 2022. This by itself isn't necessarily a problem since they have plenty of devices as it is and they could all use some more time in the oven to be more usable. But the podcast they used to put out stopped in 2022 and there has only been 1 "monthly" update on their blog in the past year.

Doing my very hacky Beepy PDA sync to start the morning and trying to get an image booting on this MangoPi MQ Pro.

That came a lot faster than expected. More PCBs should be bright pink! Unexpectedly they included a nice little USB C to USB A dongle.

The little weather script on the PDA now pulls weather data during hotsync directly from openweathermap without relying on sometimes flaky wttr.in and displays it when offline. Yesssssss

So have commercials gotten completely F'ing stupid, like comically idiotic or have I just lost my desensitization to them from not watching any for so long?

A fitting way to watch Steamboat Willie.

Bahahahahahaha I just saw a terminal journal writing program that takes "a couple of HOURS" to compile on a Pi Zero. Yes, it's a Pi Zero but...it's text in a terminal.

Can you guess what language it is written in?

I beat Fall of Elena Temple on my and I want to start a new game. I'm being indecisive though and just end up playing a ton of SHIFT everytime I grab it X-).

I am slightly tempted by this sale despite already having far more gaming handhelds than would generally be considered reasonable.

WTF Mozilla. You really gonna make it impossible to remove google from search providers?! Shame.

Gonna try (again) to leave the PocketCHIP out to be used as the control center for Kodi and our music server. I've got a little touchable kodi remote interface but I also have a little program that lets me use the hardware keyboard buttons to navigate Kodi. Which is nicer than constantly having to glance back and forth at the screen to make sure my finger is in the right spot.

Plus having it handy means I can grab it to do some and fediverse browsing.

Car-brains: I need this $60k SUV because I have to go grocery shopping and have a kid to haul around.

Me: Picks up firewood, $150 of groceries, and a 12 pk of beer in one trip on an ebike with my kid along for the ride.

You know how in so many TV shows everyone that is going to bed, in bed or just got out of bed has PJs on? It has me wondering how common it is to wear actual PJs to bed...as an adult.

We put our kids in PJs but that's different. They don't always like to have a blanket on them so they'd get cold and wake up without. Personally, I haven't worn PJs my entire adult life except when it's REALLY cold and I just want the extra layers for warmth. It's just extra laundry to do and I run hot anyways so I'd just get overheated and strip them off pretty much immediately.

Do you wear PJs to bed as an adult?

There are a couple projects demonstrating some nice looking capabilities of the Beepy and it's display. I just need somebody to build a PDA interface on top of one of these X-).

So far on my Playdate I've gravitated mostly towards nice polished arcadey games and puzzle/puzzle platform style games. It just lends itself nicely towards those uncomplicated but tight, quick session types of games.

I wish the book industry adopted the way the music industry did physical/digital releases. It's pretty standard to get a digital download of the album along with the physical release when you buy a record or you can buy a CD and it's really easy to rip a digital copy. Would be great if you could purchase a physical book and get a little code to download an epub along with it.
