Just learned what the user interfaces in the SpaceX capsules run.

The capsules that provide life support for people traveling into space and have to be absolutely reliable.

The user interface that controls an explosion.

@thomasfuchs @Gerhardf The chief genius engineer made them do it, I’m sure. The crew should count themselves lucky all the buttons don’t have “X” written on them.

@ct_bergstrom I like the way the Signage Committee included a taxonomist who insisted on calling them “Estuarine” and then the rest of the committee demanded “(Saltwater)” for non-biologists.

As you contemplate going home for the holidays, especially if you have any vocal MAGA relations, remember this coping strategy: Hear everything they say for what it is: from a brainwashed cult of millions who have been misled and manipulated. Do not attempt to deprogram, or you become just another enemy. Listen with patience, and try to find common things you both enjoy to talk about. Remind them of your humanity, and do things that let them remind you of theirs. That is how love ultimately prevails.

Arrg!
Never a good start to the day when your slow acting insulin decides it will not be slow, and drops your blood sugar to 2 in ten minutes flat.
It is a good job I had not gone for my morning walk straight away as I’d be collapsed somewhere in Castle Meadows now.
All good now, but it will mess up my levels all day I bet.
Rare, but it has happened a couple of times before. My diabetic clinic did not seem to know of it being a thing. Anyone else had this? Ordinary glargine insulin.

kentindell,
@kentindell@mastodon.social avatar

@revk Have you tried boiling your blood by reading crap from keyboard warriors who think “insulin” is a single thing?

    Supply chain attacks in developer tools worry me the most. If they get malware code injected into firmware then truly horrible things can happen: embedded systems control real things, like moving machinery. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/malicious-visual-studio-code-extensions-with-millions-of-installs-discovered/

    Hmmm. So I've got some Eightree smart plugs. They support power on/off and power usage monitoring. Good. I got them free. Even better.

    I managed to get HACS installed on HA. I managed to get LocalTuya installed in HACS. I managed to do get a LocalTuya integration. It managed to SEE my test smartplug; IP and MAC! Wow, so close now.

    Now it wants the device's "localkey". I cannot get this unless I first sign the device up to the cloud, then un-sign it up. Somehow this will reveal it to me.
