Too chaotic for a paladin

Amateur artist and junior IT administrator. Mostly self-trained in chaotic and often destructive ways. Opponent of mainstream social media and nasty digital surveillance, wanna-be cypherpunk. Linux user since 2013. Fully degoogled since December 2019. Fully BigTech-free since March 2024.
Synesthete. That weird freak who sometimes uses Daedric alphabet. Even weirder freak who use bare IP address instead of some server name.
Cryptography is my only religion - does Church of Wael look for new members?
In my free time I draw or write stories, first of all for my fun.

I publish my works under CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

Writing here in English/Polish.

Funny thing... I always knew is decentralized, like . But for ~3 years I knew only one instance address, second one I accidentally saw here. And I absolutely don't know where to look for more. :blobcatjoy:

Another "like a tribal tattoo" ... this time. Planned to draw it more like these clay figurines decorated with coloured glass shards available in souvenir shops :blobcatjoy:

Trzeba jeszcze zmienić rolnictwo i ludzką dietę.

"So many people no longer answer calls from unrecognized numbers that it's becoming almost pointless to try to call customers when there are legitimate issues they need to resolve."

madargon,
@madargon@is-a.cat avatar

Did my taxes via government website... And now I want to scream about support on ...
Why the hell login via identity card is so much pain every damn time?!?

madargon,
@madargon@is-a.cat avatar

@MartinBe Maybe it is somehow related to their smartcard reader software, distributed via the same government sites. I remember how I laughed reading their manual, definitely wrote by someone who never saw Linux.

madargon,
@madargon@is-a.cat avatar

@MartinBe Every service there, related to taxes, voting, some weird services using their "inbox" etc. are the same. Chain of weird redirections, sometimes with as suspicious addresses as real scam sites. And I dare you to use adblockers in browser...

Not even sure if it was original, I saw it here many times independently last few days, from various accounts posting this.
I imagined it as some - - , most possibly living underwater so it could move quickly in this shape :blobcatjoy:

holy shit. they actually called it "reply guy". seeing the Torment Nexus and copying it for profit is one thing, but seeing a reply guy and being like "I can monetize that" is a whole new type of evil.

darnell, to meta
@darnell@one.darnell.one avatar

#Meta should just offer people in #Europe (& the rest of the planet) a simple option: either opt in to have your personal information sold to advertisers, or pay a fee to use #Facebook, #Instagram, #WhatsApp & #Threads.

It works for #YouTube (I pay them to avoid ads), as well as other news organizations. It’s really that simple.

👉🏾 Meta could face further squeeze on surveillance ads model in EU | TechCrunch https://techcrunch.com/2024/04/25/meta-ads-data-retention-ag-opinion/

madargon,
@madargon@is-a.cat avatar

@darnell If their business model rely on exploitation, manipulation and general disrespect these companies shouldn't exist at all.

madargon,
@madargon@is-a.cat avatar

@darnell But data are STILL siphoned off - there's a big lie paid tiers are free of tracking. Only there is no ads visible. And displaying ads shouldn't require invading poeople's private lives and activities. There wers context ads for example.
Maybe it's good time to finally separate first thing from the second.

madargon,
@madargon@is-a.cat avatar

@darnell Yes, I absolutely don't trust them and don't use. I cut from my life few of them and never touched the rest. And I block connections to their services if I find them. Never thought they are critical.
But there are people who don't use it voluntarily but because of external factors (employers, stubborn families, various service providers refusing to use other communication channels) forcing them. And they don't deserve to be "punished".
