Een Fritz!Powerline/WIFI set toegevoegd aan mijn Fritz!Box modem/router.

Hah, I once abandoned a book by Stephen King. I just couldn't get through the story which was too repetitive and long before it, supposedly, would BE somewhere, the 'going' was taking way too much time. I think it took place on a train. A tower was involved, I think. I no longer even have that book: if I don't like it I don't keep it.

I do have others of him that I like although I BY FAR prefer other writers such as Peter Hamilton or Greg Bear, and others.

Now Elon Musk is spreading FUD about Signal. If you needed another vote of confidence that Signal (end-to-end encrypted messenger maintained by a nonprofit) is the real deal, there you have it:

Signal is fantastic! It works fine! I just don't understand why organisations such as Extinction Rebellion still use, gulp, Telegram for their groups. I just don't. A nice extra is that you can create your own stickerpacks so organisations can use those for extra, custom, attention in messages. I mean ❤

They are super private, too.
And they create a sense of community because if you can spare a little bit of money you can even support them; they are nonprofit. Sigh.

Here's a pair of charcoal kilns not often seen as they are a bit out of the way high in the Cedar Range of southeastern Nevada. The Panaca Kilns were built c. 1875 and used until the 1890s to make charcoal for mining smelters in the region. They were operated by Swiss and Italian woodcutters, known as "Carbonari," who had perfected the charcoal-making process in Europe.

As i was watching last night, about a planet that was frequently shaken up due to a 'Sky Ship', the noise accompanying the shakes was appropriately loud.

Loud, deep, roaring sounds.
I loved them.
It was booming! And sometimes it was there even without the tremors.

It took the next episode and a sudden, bright light to realise that in fact, there was a massive thunderstorm outside.

Cactus flowers are the best. This is an Echinocereus or hedgehog cactus. It's an early bloomer on the Colorado Plateau.

One of my cacti decided to bloom every year a few years ago. The first time was a surprise, and the colours are magenta. This picture reminds me of it even though yours displays a more prolific bloom.

Which foods have the most plastics? CNN says ninety percent of animal and vegetable protein samples tested in research published in February tested positive for microplastics. Other studies said vegetables can absorb microplastics through their root systems, and salt and sugar can also contain plastic. Here's the full story, including some advice on reducing your exposure. Tell us: Which of these proteins do you think contains the most plastic?

A friend who was dealing with an unpromising future where he knew he would need to be taken care of in the not so distant future, once told me that his biggest fear would be when the moment came when the last of his independence would melt away and that he would become a burden to others.

I didn't know how to console him. So I just sat with him and listened.

It amazes me how much, as a culture, that we internalize our own care, and the care of others, as a "burden".

What is wrong with us?

pascaline,
@pascaline@mastodon.nl avatar

@Mrfunkedude Oh, yes. I have been feeling this for quite a while now. Becoming a burden, not being able to do what I like, and to hear others decide 'what i would want' which would clearly NOT be what I would want. I dread that, it is a scary thought that often comes to haunt me.

Most bad phone photos are bad because of the way they are processed, which is usually beyond the user's control. Weird edges, clumps of pixels, crazy distortions in shaded areas: all bad. It seems they have gotten worse, trying to 'help' by embellishing while smoothing out et cetera. I almost cried after inspecting the first Huawei picture.
