More censorship: Instagram has suspended the account of our video correspondent, Leila Warah.

This is blatant censorship of Palestinian journalism during this ongoing violence.

We demand that her account be restored immediately.

It is our understanding that this suspension comes after several Israeli soldiers shared Leila’s account on Facebook pages, asking others to submit fraudulent reports of guideline violations.

Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip entered its fourth day as the death toll inside Gaza surpassed 770, with more than 4,000 injuries as a result of airstrikes. Among the dead are at least 140 children, according to Palestinian health sources.

The mainstream U.S. media is using the word “hostages” to describe the Israelis who Hamas militants have captured and taken into Gaza. Analyzing this is a good start to understanding how the mainstream media distorts the news.

Alex Kane makes an important point on Twitter:

An incendiary claim has gone viral: That Palestinian fighters raped Israeli women during their attack on the rave in Kibbutz Reim. We should treat this claim with a huge dose of skepticism. The source is a SINGLE unnamed witness who told Tablet, “Women have been raped.”

Note the passive voice. Did this witness personally see it? We don’t know. He doesn’t say. The writer, Liel Leibovitz, just lets the explosive claim in, without any comment. (cont)

@pkreissel Yes. We have reported it as it’s been confirmed. The claims about rape have not been confirmed and originate from an untrustworthy source.
