The engine configuration and peak horsepower are the least of Yamaha's problems.

The bike is the opposite of what it was, it's nervous and responds aggressively to any rider inputs. They are in trouble.

I have discovered a downside to the pod: watching moto2 and hearing Neil, but it is his "I'm being a grown up" voice and not his podcast voice.

About that Marc Marquez press conference:

Originally, Marc Marquez was scheduled to do just a normal media debrief. He is in Jerez to open a Repsol garage, normal sponsor duties, Honda thought it would be good for him to talk to the press.

The Dorna turned it into a press conference, and everyone got very excited. Paddock people speculating about retirement, KTM, etc.

So Honda changed it back to a normal media debrief.

It's going to be pretty dull, standard stuff.

As predicted. Marc Marquez doesn't want to risk racing at Jerez because braking forces could force the pin in his thumb to let go, and that could possibly be career ending.

Few words in American English annoy me more than ‘ouster’. (Except maybe the way they pronounce ’herb’.) ‘Oust’ is a transitive verb (‘to oust x’), an ouster is one who ousts (someone), not the act of ousting (someone) or being ousted (by someone). And you use it for kings or renegade presidents, not talk show hosts. FFS. Dreadful dialect. shudders in clipped English

@ottocrat I mean, people have been verbing nouns and nouning verbs forever. No matter how you and I feel about it.

Living in The Netherlands, I am always deeply entertained by the Genootschap der Nederlandse Taal and their attempts to control the Dutch language. As if that is how language works.

Personally, I quite like "to oust" as it sounds more vicious than merely sacking someone.

@ottocrat Fair. It's odd how it differs from the standard verb format. "Tucker Carlson ousted at Fox News" sounds positively vicious. "Tucker Carlson's Fox News ouster" sounds like he took the charabanc to Morecambe for a day at the beach.

each language on Duolingo has a thing it's obsessed with. in Turkish it's beautiful women who may or may not also be old "yaşlı ve güzel kadın" (the old and beautiful woman). In Latin, it is young men (and only young men)

@PublicChaffinch I can imagine trying to come up with sentences for all of these languages and just getting bored and sticking the odd private joke in there from time to time.
