Has anyone used assembly service with some components skipped? Does the paste still get applied to those pads, or does JLC remove those openings from the stencil? If not, I can do it myself, just curious ๐Ÿ™‚

niclas,
@niclas@angrytoday.com avatar

@tomkeddie

I have made boards with ESP32 modules on them, and jlcpcb not populating those, i.e. not in the no LCSC column in the BOM; No Paste.

I can't recall any time where they were out-of-stock, but assume that their process is identical.

Another interesting observation; When ordering Assembly, one can't order a Stencil, which could be related to not be able to have two execution paths of the process.

Yo, if you live in Berlin and have a sunny balcony/garden/window. You can get a plug-in solar setup for basically free.
This city subsidy program gives you up to 500โ‚ฌ for a setup and most only cost you around 300-400โ‚ฌ.
Its basically free electricity for your apartment/home.

Curious; Does that have an inverter? If it does, can it be connected to my house wiring?
If inverter is not included, how am I (average Joe) supposed to utilize that?

What are some of the essential tools you think we need on this bench?

niclas,

@geerlingguy

I think you should also get a cable rack on the wall and/or at the end of the cable, where Ethernet, USB, HDMI, ++ cables are readily available, not entangled and easy to put back. 3D print your to get reasonable sized grooves and spacing.

This is clipped segments from Nobody Special's live show. I just want to emphasize what he says at the end:

...the capitalists, we gotta start policing this stuff...

I'm curious to hear what should be done to prevent situations like this, and would like to see those involved jailed for what is highly likely illegal in some form already.

As a Canadian, who does live under single-payer, I will add that the same problems that allow this to happen also make the public option worse. No matter what your system is, accountability is crucial.

The root of evil is state power. Limiting supply by regulation, dumbing down people, and most importantly protecting the individuals doing this from personal consequences and the whole "shareholder protection" thingy.

Policing is just giving the State more power and reducing our freedoms a little bit more.

People want Protection and Safety above all. We will all soon live in a open-air prison. I'd rather live dangerously and free, than safe and "protected".

Don't feel bad. A friend of mine studied the T&C and guidelines closely and noticed that it said that nudity depicted in classical art was exempt from the "no nudity" rules.

So, he posted a image of a really old painting, can't remember which one, but in excess of 200 years old.

Temporarily banned for a month!

Appealed by pointing to the clause stating the exemption; Banned upheld after human review.

Am I the only one who refers to mangosteen as "jewish Mango"?

niclas,
@niclas@angrytoday.com avatar

@freemo

Possibly!

I haven't seen any westerner refer to mangosteen at all. And considering its origin in Malaysia/Indonesia (+PH and I guess TH) with their largely Muslim populations and fondness of the fruit (my 2nd most favorite, after mango) the term is guaranteed not present there.

Quick search on the net leads to a joke; "What do you call a Jewish mango? Mangostein"

In Sweden cash has almost disappeared. I had a single note in my wallet for well over 2 years, before spending it in Jan/Feb at the local bridge club (they also accepted Swish, the P2P payment system in Sweden).
ATMs are soon all gone. Most bank branches don't accept cash! Many shops, bars and restaurants don't accept cash.

And people here are pretty happy about it. Which somewhat scares me.

Moisturizer is just a heroin addiction for your skin. Do people even realize that if you use it more than a few times it causes your skin to need it to even function and like cigarettes you need to use it just to get your skin like it used to be.

People who use it for years and then stop will literally have their skin peeling off and cracking.

Yeah, instead of making bad tiktok videos, I created a magazine with a 5 week publishing schedule to 100 odd subscribers. And an illegal FM radio station after that, probably with listeners in the dozens, maybe a hundred (we did receive a few letters every week).

Totally analogous (digital was barely a thing back then), just a matter of scale.

I agree with that definition, but when you combine it with State powers/violence, the crapitalism that we have today rears its ugly head. And even that is better than Socialistic Totalitarianism that arises from the mainstream "alternative". Again, State power is the root of the problems no matter how we organize the economics.

Maybe it'd be possible to get access to this thing's underlying software and reprogram it? ;)

Those traces should lead to a header or to pads, that they use to program it. If you can locate those, then one can probably re-program it with a standard ST-Link programmer (original or clone).

It would help a lot to get hold of a programmer's manual and figure out if the peripherals are STM32 compatible (good chance, many others are, and wouldn't surprise me if this is STM32F030-like)

Then simply use STM32CubeMX/CubeIDE to program it.
