I agree with that definition, but when you combine it with State powers/violence, the crapitalism that we have today rears its ugly head. And even that is better than Socialistic Totalitarianism that arises from the mainstream "alternative". Again, State power is the root of the problems no matter how we organize the economics.

I would love to undertand better the reason/psychology/development of some homosexual men to speak in that distinctive way of speaking that seems exclusive to gay men. Like it isnt an accent, and doesnt seem to occur naturally since its exclusive to that group. Do gay men make it a point to learn to speak that way at some point? If so why?

My best guess is as a way to show their orientation publicly to signal to other gay men, in an effort to creat connections or find companions that are also gay? But that would imply its a conscious thing they learnedto do at some point?

PS please no inconsiderate responses. Be respectful people.

niclas,
@niclas@angrytoday.com avatar

@freemo
My amateur take; I don't think it is to signal that they are gay, but to make themselves more attractive to some other types or gay men. Speech, mannerism, grooming and fashion in a complete package.

Some women are doing the same thing to attract straight men that appreciate such.

All under threat of legal action from IP holders.

I think those stinking IP rights should disappear as soon as product is no longer supported and/or not available to buy and/or not possible to play.

If you're asked to sign a CLA and/or copyright assignment before contributing to a FOSS project, refuse, and make a hard fork of the project instead.

Take direct action for free software.

niclas,
@niclas@angrytoday.com avatar

@drewdevault

Well, that depends on what the CLA says.

Apache Software Foundation, for instance, has a CLA that states that ASF has the right to license the contributions under Apache License, and that your contributions are free of IP infringements (to your knowledge).

Linux Foundation also seems to have a CLA, https://docs.linuxfoundation.org/lfx/easycla/v2-current/contributors/individual-contributor

Does that mean we should fork every project from these foundations that we use?

The idea that it's justifiable to let unspeakable suffering within your community continue when you have enough excess (meaning losing it wouldn't affect your overall quality of life) resources to stop it, just because those resources "belong" to you and you shouldn't be expected to give them up unless you get something better in return, is absolutely the most selfish, morally bankrupt and evil foundation for a society that always leads to fascism eventually.

niclas,
@niclas@angrytoday.com avatar

@freemo

To clarify; "healthy capitalism" is not what the socialist/communists calls "capitalism". We have today a state-induced power structure that breeds off capitalism (unhealthy) for power and control.

What is sickening to me is that said socialists/communists in practice want to get rid of the "good part" (capitalism) from what we have today and keep the "power and control" to micromanage the population to starvation, when the capital runs out.

@aeleoglyphic @Radical_EgoCom @Vincarsi

niclas,
@niclas@angrytoday.com avatar

@freemo

We on the capitalism side agree on this, but my point was that when socialists talk about capitalism, they mean the crony-crapitalism we have today (where billions of loot...I mean taxes...are handed out to BigCorps), and therefore the subject can't even be discussed in a honest manner.

2020 the age of designer disorders...

On the one hand I can say I do like the fact that mental disorders have more acceptance and less stigma, but my god did the pendulum swing too far. Now its a point of pride to the point that people just make up (or even get frivolously diagnosed) just to be cool or accepted. Autism and ADHD seem to be the designer disorders of the day and I am completely convinced the overwhelming majority of people who claim to have autism, or were even diagnosed, at least the high-functioning ones, dont.

niclas,
@niclas@angrytoday.com avatar

@freemo

And there are incentives for the psychiatry as a whole to "find" more mental illness and suffering. It creates a river of funds towards the industry, and the more money they get the more unhealthy individuals will be found.

niclas,
@niclas@angrytoday.com avatar

@gabriel If you are in Europe, it will be nearly impossible, as only 51 bytes packets (I think) are allowed, and with as little as 1% air time occupied. TCP header of 20 bytes, IP header of 20 bytes, only leaves 11 bytes per packet, so a SSL session initialization would take minutes (hours?). In the US I think larger packets are allowed (255 bytes?), so maybe doable. Also, one could simply break the regulation.

Concerned about microplastics? Research shows one of the biggest sources is car tyres

A lot of the emphasis on reducing microplastics has focussed on things like plastic bags, clothing, and food packaging.

But there's a growing body of research that shows one of the biggest culprits by far is car tyres.

It's increasingly clear that we simply cannot solve the issue of microplastics in the environment while still using tyres — even with electric-powered cars.

"Tyre wear stands out as a major source of microplastic pollution. Globally, each person is responsible for around 1kg of microplastic pollution from tyre wear released into the environment on average each year – with even higher rates observed in developed nations.

"It is estimated that between 8% and 40% of these particles find their way into surface waters such as the sea, rivers and lakes through runoff from road surfaces, wastewater discharge or even through airborne transport.

"However, tyre wear microplastics have been largely overlooked as a microplastic pollutant. Their dark colour makes them difficult to detect, so these particles can’t be identified using the traditional spectroscopy methods used to identify other more colourful plastic polymers."

https://theconversation.com/check-your-tyres-you-might-be-adding-unnecessary-microplastics-to-the-environment-205612#:~:text=Tyre%20wear%20stands%20out%20as,rates%20observed%20in%20developed%20nations.

"Microplastic pollution has polluted the entire planet, from Arctic snow and Alpine soils to the deepest oceans. The particles can harbour toxic chemicals and harmful microbes and are known to harm some marine creatures. People are also known to consume them via food and water, and to breathe them, But the impact on human health is not yet known.

"“Roads are a very significant source of microplastics to remote areas, including the oceans,” said Andreas Stohl, from the Norwegian Institute for Air Research, who led the research. He said an average tyre loses 4kg during its lifetime. “It’s such a huge amount of plastic compared to, say, clothes,” whose fibres are commonly found in rivers, Stohl said. “You will not lose kilograms of plastic from your clothing.”"

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/jul/14/car-tyres-are-major-source-of-ocean-microplastics-study

"Microplastics are of increasing concern in the environment [1, 2]. Tire wear is estimated to be one of the largest sources of microplastics entering the aquatic environment [3,4,5,6,7]. The mechanical abrasion of car tires by the road surface forms tire wear particles (TWP) [8] and/or tire and road wear particles (TRWP), consisting of a complex mixture of rubber, with both embedded asphalt and minerals from the pavement [9]."

Close to zero. I haven't bicycled regularly since I was teenager, but back then I did about 2000-5000km per year, and a set of tires weighed ~1kg and lasted 3-5 years, and most of the weight was not scrubbed off, but part of the regular waste.

(Please address that)

Systemic problems are seldom systemic, but agendas driven by the ruling class. Taxation and regulation have created the monster that USA (and other places) is, for instance in the suburban crawl, unlivable cities, and long distance shipping/transport. The ruling class bought off by the oil industry to ensure the growth of oil consumption over the last 100+ years.
