I'm a nerd who plays #Arknights and watches #anime. I'm a big fan of #StarTrek even though they canceled Prodigy. Looking for a job in data science, software engineering, or related fields. Recently started thinking of myself as a #furry.

It's such a bummer that she's not on the Fediverse. These are all so great.

Dear #harem #anime and #romcom writers, please take notes. Star is the most boring possibility you can write. So many more interesting options exist.

I've been pretty disheartened with my inability to make any headway on improving language support in for after getting the docker container running so I've mostly been avoiding it. I finally found someone else who got so fed up with the only config options being in babel that they hardcoded languages to import. I'm excited to say that I was able to mimic what they did well enough that at least something works.

It's about the tiny victories. This isn't scalable, doesn't use the tools that I'll ultimately need to figure out, and wouldn't be accepted by sane people if I pushed it but at least I'm not on step 4 anymore.

Dorothy is broken as sin in Reclamation Algorithm because her S3 mines reveal a huge area on the cheap but my favorite use of her is hunting. Her land mines are super effective at wasting the game as it runs away.

I'm not sure that this diagram from 's announcement of their new logo is generated. But I will say, it looks a lot like what you'd get if you tweaked parameters in Iluz, et al. (2023). I'm not sure what prompt they would have used but this looks like demonstrations that I saw from that paper where they fiddled with the loss function. All their talk of how it's a dynamic and responsive font sounds like AI hype too.

As I said, I don't have proof or anything. This could genuinely be manual effort by a skilled font designer and I lack the expertise to tell them apart. But Patreon is at around the part of where AI Hype sounds appealing.

Apparently Israel has passed a law criminalizing consuming "terrorist materials" on social media. It designates Hamas as a terrorist organization and includes "documentation of terrorist acts" as a specifically prohibited publication.

So, for example, it would be illegal to look at the official death toll from Gaza's Ministry of Health since that's a government agency and Hamas is the government of Gaza.

Netanyahu's regime needs to be removed from power. Waiting for him to die of old age isn't a solution.

Prairie dogs do this cute thing called a jump-yip (or informally, a yahoo) they tilt their head back and shout so hard they fall over. I commissioned Llewellyn_Blue (from Twitter) to make an L2D chibi of Gravel doing it.

Now you know what it looks like when she shouts "I love Doctor!"

I'm probably the millionth person you've heard say each of the following but they're still worth saying

  1. is a really well crafted game
  2. I didn't check it out sooner because the art style turned me off
  3. Even if you've played a bunch of games created in its wake, it's worth trying out

Seriously, I just noticed it was free with Play Pass and figured I'd give it a shot. Even though I've seen a bunch of people play it before, I didn't realize just how well the game is able to manage the player's stress and engagement. On my third run, I noticed just how much they tuned enemy and health spawns in response to stuff like your current health and how much you're moving. But, unlike what 99% of tech companies do with that power, the devs want to use those levers to maximize fun. I feel like I'm always on the edge of my seat moments from death even when I'm comparatively safe until the game wants a lull of letting me feel powerful before a sudden wall of a boss.

I used to run a lot of . I was good enough at it that people told me they made decisions about which cons to go to based on wanting to play at my tables (few compliments have ever made me feel that good). So when I say that it's hard even for experts to manage player engagement this well, I mean it.

After playing Reclamation Algorithm in a bunch more, I think its biggest problem so far could be addressed by having 3-4 base camps that you can start your runs from but start with only one unlocked and use that for a tutorial that lasts multiple runs. It's a simple map with only 2 layers of nodes and only some stages or encounters are available.

Your first run focuses on food, water, and wood. You win if you get a stockpile above size X of each by day 4. You get some of the IS ops to start with so tutorial stages can work even if your team is poorly chosen. Start with a full bucket of fluid so managing that isn't really a concern beyond teaching players to top off operators at the end of the day.

Second run introduces weather and stone so you can build constructs—but not the base. Frame it as hearing rumors that a raid is coming but weather is making it hard to tell. Win condition is to deploy two monitoring towers on different maps and have four rice things in inventory by day 6.

Third run introduces your base and raids. Start the run with a partially built dilapidated base on a much smaller stage where you can show off choke points, blocking, and traps. Have the player place the rice growers and make this the first run where water isn't freely topped off. Win condition is surviving the day 6 raid.

Fourth run (and any after it in the tutorial base camp) would have raids on days 4, 6, and 8. Let players fully explore the little area. Introduce wandering NPCs, the black market, and sentries/outposts. Have cooking and research introduced when associated buildings are made (the same way escaping and the mint work).

Once you survive the turn 8 raid, it unlocks a caravan which you can take to the first non-tutorial.

I ran across the first server to use non-English emoji names (I think it's Russian based on the .ru). Can anyone provide translations for

Cat, fox, possum, dragon, bread, robot, tiger, meow, devil, halo, blob, sign, flag, pride, kiss, floof, woozy, uwu, Yassie, and skibidi

in

French, German, Polish, Russian, Dutch, Czech, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, or any other language you know

It probably won't yield any new but I can't really check without help from people who know other languages.

Thank you for your assistance. I knew about robot. Didn't it originally mean serf or something but only turned into robot after the play Rossum's Universal Robots? I'm trying to dig back into my sci-fi history.

Thank you for your assistance. It's definitely a failing on my end that I haven't come across any Spanish language servers full of emoji on my end.

Incidentally, I had no idea zorro meant fox. Was the first super hero secretly a furry?

Since I can't code the while at work, I can at least brainstorm about its architecture, right? Constructive feedback is welcome.

/create return a PNG based on parts named in POSTed JSON.

/list return a JSON of all parts available.

/list/{arms} return a JSON of all parts in the category {arms}.

/random return a PNG with randomly chosen elements for each part.

/part/deatil/{mouth_woozy} return a JSON with details about {mouth_woozy}.

/part/image/{mouth_woozy} return the PNG of the part {mouth_woozy}.

/create/identicon return a PNG of a neomoji based on the POSTed sha256 hash. Attempts are made to keep it kinda consistent despite new parts being added all the time.

/beta/animate return an APNG based on a POSTed JSON. Initially, it's two 0.2s frames infinitely looping, arms aren't allowed, body doesn't change, eyes and mouth are a list of parts.

/copyright return a JSON with text about who made it and a link to the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 Deed

/contact return a JSON with a link to the mixer page, the git, and the Fediverse account for the mixer.

I still don't understand why anyone orders from Hooters. The whole point is crapy food and beer prepared slowly to give you more time to talk to scantily clad women who can't tell you to buzz off.

Why would you just want the food part of that interaction?
