ramsey, to Matrix
@ramsey@phpc.social avatar

A single-user server should not require so many resources to run. 1 vCPU and 1 GB of RAM should be plenty.

@ramsey maybe it does run the actual Matrix from the movie as a background task.

1024 Megabytes surely was a lot of memory back in 1999.

@sean Gotcha. Similar idea.

docker-compose on macOS vs. docker compose on Linux always throws me off for about 5 or 10 minutes.

namelessotter,

@ramsey True, but there is a standalone version of docker-compose: https://docs.docker.com/compose/install/standalone/.

wouterj,
@wouterj@phpc.social avatar

@ramsey docker-compose is V1 (end of life more than a year ago) and docker compose is V2, rebuild as a plugin to Docker instead of a standalone binary.

I recommend uninstalling V1 and only using the supported Compose project :)

Who in the Libertarian party thought it would be a good idea to even entertain the thought putting Trump on their stage? And who in the Trump campaign also thought it was a good idea?

Thanks to kochen and jankal on GitHub (don’t think either are here in the Fediverse), there’s a new version of ramsey/uuid-doctrine (v2.1.0), with support for doctrine/dbal v4 and binary types in PostgreSQL. 🎉🎊🥳

I’m interested in running (i.e., ) as the app server for a website. The website has multiple domains pointing to it, and I plan to run this in a cluster. Can someone point to any docs or blog posts that show how others have set up similar configurations with Caddy or FrankenPHP, especially with regard to how Caddy magically configures HTTPS for the domains in this kind of setup?

mwop,
@mwop@phpc.social avatar

@ramsey I'm not using FrankenPHP yet, but been using Caddy for ages. I setup Caddy as an ingress.

I have a few sites that are static, and I just map those directly in. I've had it sit in front of swoole before (it just reverse proxies in that case), and you can even have it use FPM pools as sources for sites. When my site might be pushing new static content in, I'll have another web server container behind it (so another rev prox).

I'd argue you want Caddy -> FrankenPHP for multi-domain.

Have not done something like that but @dunglas might have some more experience with it.

Why do IDEs always default the terminal to the bottom of the screen? I’m always—always—going to move it to right side of the screen. No matter what. Am I the only one who does this?

SenseException,
@SenseException@phpc.social avatar

@ramsey I rather need more width than height for my terminal.

ramsey,
@ramsey@phpc.social avatar

@timwolla @josh I use the built-in terminal the same way: for Git. I never use the IDE’s Git integration.

sean,

@ramsey I think it’s probably about being different. Or the same as others who are doing well. I bet it started as copying Redbull.

ralphschindler,

@ramsey I think the initial answer always starts with "efficiency"... all throughout the supply/mfg/distribution chain (can making, packaging, shelf space, etc).

I asked the same question of the milk jug that costco/sams/walmart have been using for 5+ years now that everyone spilled for a month trying to figure out how to pour it correctly 😅

@pies They don’t call attention to editing in particular, but it looks like qoto has lots of unique modifications that make it very different from standard Mastodon. https://qoto.org/about/more

The infamous root beer beer, at Shoeless Joe’s, 10 years ago today.

psycodepath,

@ramsey yeah i could taste that. Maybe i had the wrong brand (CMC) but i yeah "artificial" is an onpoint description.

I don't know If alcohol would have made it better 🤔

ramsey,
@ramsey@phpc.social avatar

@psycodepath Well, it has to be artificial now because I think they figured out sassafras is toxic and not fit for human consumption.

Cannabis-infused, I take it? I'm dubious. If you have tried it yet, how is it?

ramsey,
@ramsey@phpc.social avatar

@PeterRobison I haven’t tried it yet. I’ll try to get out this weekend and try it. I doubt it’s cannabis infused, or if it is, it’s one of the strains legal to grow and consume here. That said, all hops are in the hemp family.

Opinions/thoughts/advice on monorepos with . Is anyone working within this problem space? What tools do you use?

I know is a . Are the tools they use specific to them, or can others use them?

ramsey,

@alessandrolai I don’t know. I’m not asking for me. 🙂

Crell,
@Crell@phpc.social avatar

@ramsey Symfony uses a custom Go tool to do their repo split, IIRC. That's the only way I'd even consider a monorepo.
