Original day off plan for afternoon film postponed, as I realised there was a screening perfectly timed for after work tomorrow, so instead stroll to local, a pint of Jarl, and get on with reading in preparation for Cymera Festival chairing duties.
I've not chaired a gig since before my surgery a few months back, now I have three author events within a month of one another to prep for. Lot of work, but also a lot of fun!
Continuing to read while also reacquainting myself with an old friend, a pint of Deuchars.
Along with Caley 80, my go-to ale for many years.
Really not what it once was, supplanted by newer, better IPAs, but still decent enough pint. On draught in the local (for a mere£3.90!), so indulging in nostalgia. Or should that be "nostalegia"?😋
Bière brassée au... Groenland! Trouvée complètement par hasard avant Noël dans un Vinbuðin (seule chaîne autorisée à vendre des boissons alcoolisées en Islande) et depuis j'enquête pour remettre la main dessus... Sans succès.
The now abandoned #Olympia Brewery standing unused (sad waste of a beautiful spot) in Tumwater, WA. It looks like a commercial version of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water house. I remember touring the place with my parents when I was a kid. It was a fully operational brewery then.
Mine’s a Dark - Weird Dad - 3.5% ABV. B++, finally a Mild in May and it’s a Corker. Malty, with a touch of fruity and very tingly on the tongue #ale#beer#bier
3.5/5. Finally a Mild in May and it’s awesome. Black Pudding Scotch Eggs on sale here and they are calling me. I wonder? #beersofmastodon@beersofmastodon
Blŵbri - Bragdy Twt Lol - 4.6% ABV. B+ and a bit, hoppy, fruity and a little malty sweetness. Gentle and refreshing. Works with the weather #ale#beer#bier
3.3/5. The Mamas and the Papas on the jukebox and Sky Sports on the TV. Twt lol on my palate and the sun is shining. Quality Beanoing. #beersofmastodon@beersofmastodon
Catch them while you can; ghost signs don't last forever.
Sadly, when John Connell headed out to photograph this multi-layered palimpsest in Wakefield, it was gone, lost to aggresive cleaning of the brick between 2016–23.
My guess is that this was an off licence, but maybe someone with local knowledge might remember?
👃🏻 Molasses, green herbs, caramel, licorice, dried red fruit. Heavy and complex mix.
👁️ Beautifully dark red, collapsing beige foam.
👅 Sweet. A touch boozy. Soft mouthfeel, low in carbonation. Lots of caramel, licorice, some aniseed.
Export - Rhymney Brewery - 5.0% ABV. B+ and a bit. Big and malty with a gentle bittersweet malty finish #ale#beer#bier
3.3/5. Already feeling good and really looking forward to #Lolffest15 at @bragdytwtlol not sure if beer fests work without inclement weather. #beersofmastodon@beersofmastodon
