I love the idea (OK not really, it is cruel) that people that do not have an internal monologue are in fact NPCs... 🙂

I have an internal monologue, but also have other mental processes - seeing (computer) code in my head in, sort of, multiple layers, and debugging code in my sleep. My monologue comes in writing and reading, and planning what I will say/type, but I also am able to come up with ideas out of thin air without "wording" them through in my head.

You? (ya, why not boost, etc)

Anyone else having issues with CGM.
The app froze up, white screen and crash. Yes, I even rebooted the phone. Eventually deleted app to reinstall.
The app is no longer on Apple Store. Even the link from abbot site fails. Only the “3” app now, which says incompatible sensor!!!
So right now I have prescription CGM I cannot use.
Anyone got any clues?

Update: re-install from "purchased apps". Worked but lost all history.

Anyone else get slightly annoyed at couriers charging the recipient an admin fee for customs/duty.

It is just one of many bits of admin getting a parcel from sender to recipient under a contract with the sender. But they charge the recipient, with whom they have no contract.

I doubt it has a legal basis at all. One reason for this doubt is legislation allowing Royal Mail to make such a charge. If there was a legal basis for such, RM would not need a special law for it.

I’ll see what DHL say.

Silly question…
WiFi access points with roaming.
I know Ruckus and UniFi and Aruba.
I mostly like Aruba as no need for controller/director.
What other options are there?
What “consumer” grade multi AP solutions are good?

Well, it fits well in a resin mould. I really should do some s/w before setting it in stone (or resin).

I have tried to explain some of the issues with #2038 and time_t. And some about #Y2K

I mean, maybe boost it a bit if people need to know this shit?!

These things really are a huge con. Why not just pay the staff a proper wage.

Pre paid service charges paid.
Plus service charges like this just buying a coffee. Yes I have to buy coffee even though I have “unlimited” beverages package.
And optional extra tip on top.

Drives me nuts.

This is a weird one.
HMRC are basically asking us to lie to them about December pay. Recording a different pay day than the actual pay day, because it could impact people on universal credit. That sounds like a very broken system.
It is also a tad unclear as they talk of normal or contractual pay day. We “normally” and “contractually” pay staff a week early in December. So I am not clear what they want me to put on RTI!

Grr , again, accepting DD instructions when I have told them not to, so getting a fraudulent payment refunded.

But they are victim blaming, saying that in order to set up a DD someone has to know the sort code and account, and that I should be careful giving it out!!!

  1. They don't - they can make up an account - the check digit is simple.

  2. We have to give details for people to pay us - D'uh!!!

Why are all banks a pain?!

At least I am am entitled to an immediate refund so no loss.

That was crap, one phone seems to have done nothing (Voda NL SIM), and another (EE UK) beeped quietly for a fraction of a second, showed something full screen, which vanished before it could be read. And no indication of any message to anything.

Fill in response survey here: https://surveys.publishing.service.gov.uk/s/A7XZXQ

Survey does no ask even which country you are in, or which network you are on. That is really useless!

Is anyone else (not Nigel Farage) having issues with #Barclays (business) being stupid?

They say they want us to confirm our business details. Well, OK, but they are all on Companies House, so seems a bit silly. But yeh, OK, will do.

They say they sent a form - we never got one, and it is not online. [found it now, its a stupid form, and no address to send to]

They sent a letter saying we have not filled in the form, but don't include the form with the letter!

Just getting really silly now.

This may be one of those "it is different for different people and nobody realises" things.

But talking to stroke doctor he asked about migraines, and I explained I get an aura, on one side or the other.

He was "so it only affects one eye or the other", and I corrected him - "no, one side of my vision or the other", and he repeated the "one eye or the other".

It is not one eye or the other!
It is in my vision, not my eye, and is one side of my vision.

Yes?

OK, screen scraping Monmouthshire council site.

Seems to work, we'll see how it copes with the changes on the day.

OK, I have one of these spare... Of the 5 PCBs, one was faulty, and three have gone to good homes (including one on my desk). They have 372 WS2812B RGB LEDs and dial a random address on power up (also control via MQTT and HTTP). USB powered, needs 0.7A.

How do I find a worthy home for this one spare unit? I should probably find some charity thing to donate it to, but it may be just too geeky.

Of course, there is no ruling out making more at some point.

OK, is quite good at showing me I have 500 new posts and letting me whiz through them. Previous apps I used seemed to be very bad at that. Clunky or “here is latest”.

But the “problem”, which is more of a problem I think, is when 50 of those new posts are X boosted this one thing, I’d love to see that as one of the new items with “50 people you follow boosted this” than see the same thing 50 times as I scroll through.

[update: hmm it may have a setting!]

Shit!

If I "buy" some "content" (TV movie/film) on something like Apple TV, I expect to buy it.

There are a lot of issues with that I know, but for now, Apple TV do seem to treat it that I "own" it and so can play it whenever I like. Good,

But when re-watching "Continuum" series, and it hits me every time they have (now) censored the word "shit" or similar from the dialogue. I have watched many times. Artificial gap in dialogue!

What I am watching now is not what I "purchased", FFS.

Time to guess what we are labelling…

Edit: I am not sure the picture of it actually helps much...

The answer is some sort of massage implement. I am no expert on the actual usage - I’m the one with a label machine :-)

C Coding debate.

Normally, obviously, I am somewhat careful to ensure freeing memory. Memory leaks are a bugger.

Sometimes I use alloc(), strdupa() in a function to avoid the question.

But when I have a non looping standalone command that always runs to the end, and hence any allocated memory during the process is freed when it exits, and a growing memory leak cannot happen... Do I free all the things at the end?

[Loving the debate on this]
