Just finished watching Across the Spiderverse and OMFG! Way to top up the first one, which I thought was impossible 😱

Can’t wait for part 3!

I’m back to mastodon after some time using only , and I’m really happy being back here. It seems past me did a good job curating a cool following list, and I’ve already seen a lot of cool content.
Gonna try to get as my default network again, but I’d really love an app that had better threaded views. The default app is hard to parse sometimes…

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@matt thanks! And I’m gonna definitely check that out! While I got you, can I ask which apps have you been using? 😊

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@matt Awesome! Really liked the design of phanpy.social, and it kinda works as a PWA, but I definitely miss a tab bar at the bottom.
Trying Mona now, and their threaded display is really good!

Ok, people. I have a in the Garage. It has a temperature sensor. I want it to send me a notification when the temperature drops below 50F. I can't see how to do this with or . What am I missing?

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@matthewcassinelli @mlanger plugging @pushcut and @rosemary here for reference 😊

Another thing you could try, would be to have automations running every hour and checking that data. I’ve been using that to chart temperatures in our living room (yeah, Rio de Janeiro is hot 🥵)

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@matthewcassinelli @mlanger @pushcut @rosemary sure!

Here’s the link to the shortcut that logs the temperatures to Data Jar whenever it’s called and updates the chart: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/09dcf0e6278b4153854e7be97ed1197d

That’s called every two hours (because I’m too lazy to create 24 automations) 😅

And we should definitely get together! I’m trying to get back on Charty 2.0 and Framey development, so I’ll probably have new actions for you to try soon 😍

When reading replies from someone I follow, I’d love to see the original post above for context.

@ivory Is this something I could turn on or is it on the roadmap for Ivory?

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@ivory woah, thanks for the quick reply!
That’s the method I’ve been using to gather context. I’d love to have that in the timeline, glad it’s in the backlog! 😍

I upgraded to watchOS 10, and it’s so interesting – like someone joined the team and said, “why do we do that?” 100 times.

  • Was side button multitasking useful? Not really.
  • Was the zooming grid an effective way to find apps? Nope.
  • Did we need the clock in the app list? Nuh-uh.

Controversially, I’m also glad “swipe to change watch face” is gone, because I never did it on purpose 🙈

It takes a lot of time, energy, and bravery to execute this kind of root to branch rethink – well done! 🙌

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@MuseumShuffle @twostraws yes! Fellow modular lover here. Why can’t we get the new ultra modular watch face? 😭

At least we got some cool new gradients, here are mine now for workout and work 😁

@matt your description of both why Reddit communities work well and how bad these work in Discord is 1000% spot on!

Let’s hope we get something good going with the Reddit alternatives 😕

Hey @simonbs, just saw your question on the data-frameworks Slack about modifying SwiftData from Shortcuts.

If you don’t mind me asking , how did you manage that? I’m having trouble accessing the ModelContainer in AppIntents 😕

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@simonbs ok, glad you managed to get it working, so I know it’s possible now 😊
But how did you access the modelContainer in the AppIntent without using the environment? Did you create a new one?

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@simonbs huh, let me try that real quick 😁

So, has anyone figured how to create an abstract entity in yet? I thought it’d be a parameter for the Model macro, but couldn’t find it

SwiftUI experts: I have a view that has a @StateObject which contains a @Published property. I want my view to redraw when the value of the published property changes. However, my view isn't redrawn until the second time the property changes. Any idea what could cause this?

In case it matters: the StateObject is created in my view using _myObj = StateObject(wrappedValue: …)

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@simonbs calling objectName.objectWillChange.send() when changing the values of the published properties fixed view updates for me in that scenario 😊

Been hard at work on Charty 2.0 these last couple of days! 🤓

As mentioned, it’s an entire rewrite of the app, here are some of the changes:

As Swift Charts doesn’t have Pie and donut charts, I’ve had to build my own. This allowed me to create new stuff like this two level donut chart 😊

actions will get a big revamp with better error handling, more intuitive parameters and new actions!

🚀

rmaraujo,
@rmaraujo@mastodon.social avatar

@Joekw @MuseumShuffle @michaeltigas that’s a 100% thing Apple would do 😅

For the time being, I’m now happy with my pie/donut charts, but if they do release something I’ll have to check it

Also, @MuseumShuffle, it was hard to get my head around SwiftUI, but damn, once things started to click, it was great! I’d still love to have some sort of conditional view modifiers, though 😁
