Whilst in #Scotland we have a right of responsible access to land, #England and #Wales have a much more restrictive system where despite the #RightToRoam in designated areas, 2,500 of the areas people have a right to roam over don’t actually have a legal way to access them, on top of that you might not be able to get along a legal route anyway with 32,000 cases of blocked rights of way.
The increase in #hybridworking and #workingfromhome has contributed to a 30% drop in domestic #burglaries since 2019 as with more people at home there are fewer opportunities.
Interesting to see the effect of Mr Bates vs the Post Office, the ITV dramatisation of sub postmaster #AlanBates and his battle with the #PostOffice over their bug-ridden #Horizon software. Lots more people are discovering the story, which parts of the Computer press have been investigating for twenty years.
Alan Bates first contacted #ComputerWeekly in 2004, and they’ve run numerous articles on the scandal ever since.
Dear #BBCNews, #WestminsterAbbey has not “hosted every British coronation since 1066”. They hosted most but not all #English coronations from 1066, and none of the #Scottish coronations. Even after the Union of the Crowns in 1603 Scotland continued separate coronations until Charles II, not least because of the #EnglishCivilWar resulting in Charles II being crowned King of #Scotland in 1649 at Scone Abbey, and didn’t become King of #England until the restoration of the monarchy in 1660.
