I'm ditching Siteground & need managed WP hosting for 10 domains.

salcode,
@salcode@phpc.social avatar

@salzano I’m currently hosting my personal sites at Siteground. I’d be interested in hearing about what drove you away.

Maybe there is a “Why I left Siteground” blog post in the future 😀

@salzano ugh, hallucinating bots - gotta love “AI”

Side note: I wrote a little plugin that does what I think you’re describing https://github.com/salcode/require-auth-users-rest-endpoint

We watched half of the 1989 Michael Keaton Batman with our boys the other night.

Last night I asked, what do you want to watch tonight?

My son: Finish Batman?

Me: I'd rather watch the American version.

@docpop I'm interested in the yellow Desert Island Yo but it has been out of stock for some time.

Do you have plans to restock the yellow or did I miss the boat?

salcode,
@salcode@phpc.social avatar

@docpop Awesome - thank you!

I really dig the yellow 😀

I'll look forward to the restocking and I'll keep an eye on your website as we move into summer.

Thanks!

@Crell I’m a fan of setting

git config --global pull.ff only

and continuing to use
git pull

Then if I hit the situation from the video where there are new commit(s) on the remote, stops the merge and displays a message. At that point I can decide how to handle it.

The eclipse was super cool. Hope you’re doing well!

If you were to buy a new machine right now for your development needs, what would you go for?

Would you go Mac, Linux or Windows?

What about desktop or laptop?

salcode,
@salcode@phpc.social avatar

@ampersarnie Personally, I'm a big fan of a using a single laptop for both personal and professional computing.

What I give up in raw power, I feel I make up in portability and flexibility.

If I had to replace my machine today, I'd get another Mac laptop in a heartbeat.

It sounds like if you're running the WordPress WP Migrate Plugin at a version less than or equal to 2.6.10, you want to update ASAP.

What are your favorite git aliases? I'm trying to get a great git aliases config to speed up some things.

salcode,
@salcode@phpc.social avatar

@edu4rdshl I keep my Git configuration, including my aliases, in https://github.com/salcode/salcode-git

My most used Git alias is probably
git open-pr-github [targetBranch]

salcode,
@salcode@phpc.social avatar

@oranki @edu4rdshl

Great alias!

I have something similar and I was using git lg so much I made a shell alias of gl to save a couple of keystrokes 🤣

Hey you fans! What is your preferred RSS Feed Reader for Mac please?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

salcode,
@salcode@phpc.social avatar

@liamdempsey I pay for @feedbin subscription and everything just works.

Also, I recently found out my account has a feedbin email address I can use when subscribing to an email list and the emails show up in my RSS feed. I've only used it for a few email subscriptions so far but I really like it.

Is there an feed for "Cybersecurity Advisories for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency" https://www.cisa.gov/ ?

My attempts to add this to my feed reader have failed 🙁

salcode,
@salcode@phpc.social avatar

@skyportradio Thanks! This is a great site to know about!

I'm using @feedbin so another option for me is using their "Subscribe to Email" feature https://feedbin.com/blog/2016/02/03/subscribe-to-email-newsletters-in-feedbin/

However, cisa.gov seems like a site that should have RSS feeds for this information. I wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking an official feed before using one of these other methods. Unfortunately, it looks like they just don't have RSS setup. 🙁

One thing that has always frustrated me about the app, is when a workflow pastes text into the current app, it overwrite the clipboard 🙁

But it turns out, you can use Apple Script in your workflow to type keystrokes (instead of using the clipboard) 🎉

I've written up some notes on this at https://salferrarello.com/alfred-paste-without-clipboard/
