just issued a hotfix release that covers an issue that broke external HTTP requests and was affecting updates and plugins that use external APIs.

The infrastructure team managed to step in to deliver that update despite the bug.

This comes in the wake of Matt Mullenweg firing the WordPress.com QA team.

Back in the pandemic times, I set up a newsletter called “Beyond WP” that sought to bring tools and ideas from the broader web/software development world to developers.

I quickly ran out of steam - which I'm sad about.

But those emails took time to write. I got good feedback on them, and I was proud of them. So I'm working to get an archive online (with notes on what has changed since writing).

the funniest thing about Apple is the last version of MacOS features "video reactions" where if your camera sees you do a thumbs up or heart symbol with your hands, stuff happens behind you like fireworks in ANY video app you are using BY DEFAULT.

A friend was in an online therapy session, describing his trauma so the therapist asked if he was alright and he did a thumbs up and then HUGE FIREWORKS BEHIND HIS HEAD.

It's so bad that online therapy sessions now start with a warning dialog!

I've bloody well done it again! YUS! One year, every evening at 4pm (winter) 5pm (summer). A 20 second exposure through a pinhole camera, on a glass plate. I've captured the Analemma again!

Here's a little sneak peek for what would have been Apollo for iPad. You have stackable panes allowing you to easily view and move through multiple things at once (or go full screen!), Gallery Mode, and sections are moved to the side, with support for opening new tabs

Looks like Spotify is redesigning the sidebar — with Your Library separated from Home and Search and with facets for filtering by content type.

You can also expand the column horizontally.

Hasn't landed in the desktop app yet.
