As a web developer, I often find myself using hard refresh (Cmd + Shift + r on my Mac). This works for Chrome, other Chromium based browsers, and Firefox, however Safari uses a different key combination 🤦‍♂️

Fortunately, my co-worker Amor has a great solution for this - to set an App Shortcut for Safari that uses the same key combination. 🎉

His instructions are at https://itsamoreh.dev/remap-shortcut-for-safari-force-refresh/

I'm excited to see US is allowing attendees to include their handles 🎉

though I'm disappointed they are rendered as plain text (not a link) 🙁

Hopefully this improvement is coming 🤞

I finally setup a default remote, so I can stop getting "fatal: matched multiple remote tracking branches" errors (and having to add --track origin in the middle of my command).

The short version is, I ran this command once:

git config --global checkout.defaultRemote origin

The long version with my notes is at https://salferrarello.com/git-matched-multiple-remote-tracking-branches/

At WebDevStudios, we dedicate one day every month to working on open source. Today I created this Chrome extension to load the last modified date when viewing a post.

I'm a huge fan of "git log --oneline --graph" but I've noticed merge commits are indented, which doesn't seem correct to me.

In the attached screenshots, I've highlighted the extra spaces I don't think should be there in the first and in the second I've modified the indenting to what I expect to see.

Am I just thinking about this the wrong way? 🤔

I've noticed running the following from the command line on my Mac does NOT include a newline character at the end of myfile.md

@docpop I'm interested in the yellow Desert Island Yo but it has been out of stock for some time.

Do you have plans to restock the yellow or did I miss the boat?

salcode,
@salcode@phpc.social avatar

@docpop Awesome - thank you!

I really dig the yellow 😀

I'll look forward to the restocking and I'll keep an eye on your website as we move into summer.

Thanks!

I'm ditching Siteground & need managed WP hosting for 10 domains.

@salzano I’m currently hosting my personal sites at Siteground. I’d be interested in hearing about what drove you away.

Maybe there is a “Why I left Siteground” blog post in the future 😀

@salzano ugh, hallucinating bots - gotta love “AI”

We watched half of the 1989 Michael Keaton Batman with our boys the other night.

Last night I asked, what do you want to watch tonight?

My son: Finish Batman?

Me: I'd rather watch the American version.

@Crell I’m a fan of setting

git config --global pull.ff only

and continuing to use
git pull

Then if I hit the situation from the video where there are new commit(s) on the remote, stops the merge and displays a message. At that point I can decide how to handle it.
