As somebody who is on the board of multiple not for profits…. “Mastodon has known entity on board” is not the hot take you think it is.

It’s self evident people want this place to be better and it is… but building a better place requires developers putting food on the table.

At worst, it’s kind of a condemnation that the community as a whole failed at the financial support side of the project to back up our ideology… Better mutual aid for the developers might have driven a different path.

Complaining about the NFP having capitalists is not praxis… NFPs have rich well known people on them to give confidence to other rich people…… it’s not a conspiracy

The important element is influence. What influence do we have over the project? How can we capture more?

I’ve been in this community enough to see thousands of people say “Let’s fork mastodon and do it right”

Well I will donation match (as best I can in AUD) any co-op driven project that actually kickstarts a community driven fork that everyone obviously wants but never seems to actually start.

Adelaide’s famous Cafe de Vili’s has been showcasing a “donut of the month” for the last few years and this one is easily my favourite.

I imagine a bunch of staff gathered around a laboratory table trying to make the perfect donut… and my god I think they did it

Watching the David Lynch Dune and it’s kind of stunning how closely the recent movies cribbed from this… I expected it to be a very different film but it’s more identical than not.

Ive only read the first book but lynch deserves an apology when he pretty much made the same thing with 1980 film tech.
