Dear my apple watch wants me to enter my itunes password. But my password is long and strong and I have been unable to do it on the stupid fingerpainting interface for months. Is there an alternative?

“Ngnnnggnhhh…”

“Hold it, I think he’s coming round!”

“Urgh. What happened?”

“It kinda looked like you fainted, we were really worried for you mate”

“Oh good, finally!”

“Wait, what?!”

“I’ve been running in debug mode for a week, trying to log one of these brownouts. Debug mode feels like you’re wading through treacle. I can finally send the logfiles off to my GR and get a diagnosis. “

“Uh, that’s good I guess!”

“Totally. BRB rebooting in performance mode.”

“Ugh. Pick it UP and carry it!”

“What?”

“Like this. When I was your age luggage didn’t even have wheels, let alone autopilot”

“That must have made luggage jousting no fun”

“Luggage whatnow? Is that how your last suitcase got smashed‽”

ESP32-S3 based mic arrays: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1100220184/pages/all-items.html (the one I have is the Korvo-1 but cheaper alternatives exist). You could just meld an esp32 board with a mic module eg https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004396761379.html or ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005449219195.html + https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000320765322.html )

@vik I've been using a little portable bluetooth speaker (via its line-in mode), because I had a bunch of them lying about, but the particular model appears to be no longer on sale. "portable speaker" is the keyword to search, but beware that line-in seems to be less commonly supported in the current crop. On the the "same box" question -- can't say because I've been using a discrete speaker placed ~30cm from the mics.

The wizard had done well at the market, having traded all his fireworks for a brace of smoked fish, a goose, and a small kitten.

Reaching the river he found the ferryman disconsolately sitting on the dock. “Where’s the ferry?” asked the wizard.

“Sunk! I’ve sent the boy for an ox team to pull it out, but he’ll be hours. Rope bridge if you can’t wait” the ferryman pointed at two ropes strung across the river.

The wizard considered…
”hmmmn I can only carry one item at a time…I know this one…uh, kitten first, then um”

There was a pricking at his ankle. The kitten was climbing his leg. “I got this mister” said the kitten when it reached his chest. “You take the fish and I’ll ride the goose”

“You will make a powerful familiar”, complimented the wizard.

“Off you go boss” said the kitten, jumping to the ground, and mounting the goose.

The wizard took the fish in one hand, grasped the upper rope in the other hand, and stepped onto the lower rope. Gingerly he crab-walked across the rope bridge. When he was midway across the kitten set sail, prompting the goose into the stream.

The goose paddled strongly, catching up with the wizard midway.

“Capital!” called the wizard, then “wait, what?!” as the goose changed course and paddled downstream.

“So long, sucker!” called the kitten.

“Yeah it’s bullshit. If there were Neanderthals around today, you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart from anybody else”

“What do you mean?”

“Like, say there was this one Neanderthal who didn’t die, he just kept going, and he was here in his car with you working as a Repo Man. You wouldn’t have known”

any of you nerds seen an ESP-based relay board that'll handle 24V AC and also take input from a physical switch?

Unixbigot,
@Unixbigot@aus.social avatar

@decryption yeah can do that for you with pluggable modules. Two column module baseboard, relay module on the left, cpu and button modules on the right.

Unixbigot,
@Unixbigot@aus.social avatar

@decryption Oh this is for your hvac hack? I have another esp32 module in my stable that’ll drive four or 8 way relay boards.

Unixbigot,
@Unixbigot@aus.social avatar

@decryption let’s work backwards from the vent motors. Are they really AC? Are they just on-off or do they need to be reversed? That’ll determine what kind or relay you need. I also have a shit load of 4-gang solid state relays that are good for AC (they don’t work with dC). Driving relay banks is such a common pain that i designed a relay bank driver that stacks up to drive an infinite number of them, 8 per level.

Was I fucking drunk when I designed this board? I completely missed 2 GPIOs to control a LED and a switch on the schematic, and I used the wrong SERCOM for the I2C lines which means I now need to swap SCL and SDA.

This thing is a fucking mess.
