I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions, but I made a few this year. The pile of books on my bedside table has gotten out of hand. I hear by resolve to read all of these books by the end of the year. And at least start to work on the box of books under the bed. #bookstodon

This is the >110 year old 16v transformer that powered the doorbell in my house. It works fine. Pushes out a consistent 16.3v. Had to replace it with a new 24v transformer for my video doorbell. It lasted 14 months and took out the camera with it when it blew.

Twitter is all but useless for traking breaking news now. The #Lewiston hashtag over there has been completely coopted by anyone with a cause not to mention anyone with a hot take on gun control, both for and against. Mastodon has been much more useful.

Can anyone explain the business justification for this obscene global push to RTO? Remote employees are proven to be more productive, less expensive, and happier in their jobs when remote. It can not just be that execs want company in the office, or some weird thing about real estate value. It might be a way to get rid of too many employees after over-hiring during the pandemic but even that seems like a stretch. I just don't understand the strong push to RTO from all industries/locations.

For those that were following along all of my domains have now been moved off of @gandi due to their sale and email hosting price increases. My .tv domains went to Namecheap because they are just parked and there are not a lot of choices for .tv. The rest went to my web host Pair.net which I found does offer catch-all and wildcard email after all.

So I am streaming an episode of the Mandalorian from my JellyFin server 600 miles away to my iPad via WiFi, which I have connected to the big TV. Even though I know how all of this works, maybe it’s just because I’m old, but this is some fucking magic futuristic shit. Kids have no idea, to them this is normal and has always been this way.
