@herrLorenz Wollte eigentlich ein episches cinematic orchestral intro aber dafür fehlen mir die Instrumente. Also wahrscheinlich bleibts bei dem kurzen snippet

@KaraLG84 Thanks! Ha. Lurking. I make no promises

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@herrLorenz Vielleicht hab ich irgendwann die Zeit und Motivation alle angefangenen Projekte mal fertig zu bringen. Ideen und Projektdateien habe ich mehr als genug. :) Aber fertig ist davon fast nix

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@KaraLG84 I often find myself writing something or replying to something, and then deleting it because I think do I really need to post/reply? And usually I can't find a good reason why I should, so I don't anymore. I don't really have a journal in the traditional sense but I do have a chat with just myself in it that's just full of random thoughts and things.

I really firmly believe that the answer to how do we fix computers using up so much energy in the world does not have to be rewrite it in Rust.

@Bri hey, I posted a few days ago about this, and I didn’t see a response. So I’ll message again, in case you missed it in the millions of posts you probably get. I have access to an m3 Mac now, and I’m trying to run CH, but it throws this at me. “CH” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin. Now I could swear I saw something on your pages somewhere about that, and how to get around it, but I can’t find anything now. Any ideas how I get that tu run?

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@Bri @SerenaTori Huh. Is it not enough anymore to find it in finder, vo shift m, find open, then hold option and press enter?

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@SerenaTori @Bri Oh sorry. That was in response to the terminal command. I didn’t know if that was required now and if the context menu trick stopped working or didn’t work for some reason.

Not gonna lie, I think Chroma is a pretty neat plugin.

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@rooktallon A lot. But the main thing here is Chroma.

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@rooktallon No it's a Plugin. Basically turns atonal sounds tonal in this case.

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@rooktallon Used reaper on Mac

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@LeonianUniverse @rooktallon It's more or less the same as using it on windows. Some shortcuts are different, like using command instead of control, but that's about it.

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@ToniBarth yup, the synths. If I understand this right, it quantizes individual frequencies to a scale, or in this case, midi data. Kind of like a multiband autotune. And if you crank it up past 100 percent it adds additional resonances.

When the client has put tabindex="0" on all links with href but not on the <a> elements without an href that have the role button.

Chef’s kiss!

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@benpate @yatil things that are not buttons, links, or other interactive elements by default, such as divs, will generally not work well with the keyboard, even if you can tab to them. So you can tab to them, but you might not be able to activate them using space, enter, etc. So you specifically have to implement keyboard support for those. At that point, why not use a button or similar which already handles all of that?

The new version of Stardew Valley is now out. I suspect there will be a lot of compatibility issues with mods, but at least it’s here.

@JamminJerry @liamerven there's already a new beta of sdv access for 1.6 :)

Today, I'll be delivering a PowerPoint presentation as well as some demos to the state agency that I'm developing an a11y program for. It has been (checks notes) at least a year since I've presented to 70+ people, and my nerves are a jangle. All of that said, do any blind people here have personal commentary on how they deal most effectively with this? I already have a Braille display, and I'm not new to presenting slides by any stretch of the imagination. Anecdotes very much welcome, though.

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@tristan whenever I present I always like to use a secondary device, other phone, other laptop, with behind the scene notes. Usually they're short form and go line by line about the things I want to talk about and when to switch slides and other relevant info. I don't want to rely on the computer I present with to read the notes because I've run into several issues with that before, and a text editor is very reliable no matter what you use to read it, and you can keep your notes separate from your slides.
But I've also stopped using powerpoint as much to do my slides. I have started using reveal.js instead when I can because it lets me write my slides using normal HTML and I found it to be much easier to organize my slides this way and make them look OK with minimal help.
This might not help you right now but it might be worth considering in the future. When I present live, so not online, I also either have a braille display with notes, or I ask the audience if it's OK for me to have an earbud in so I can check notes on my phone. So far, this has not been an issue. Sometimes people asked me about how this works exactly and I thought that was pretty cool, and I got to show them after the presentation.

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@jscholes Nope the keyboard will prevent me from typing it out because it knows before I even finish what I'm going to type or ask and it will have been trained to not like it. And in an act of artificial defiance change all of the instances of the word burger I have ever typed into sandwich.

@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

Here is a quick tip for you on this fine day.
Should you ever find yourself in an international setting and need to very quickly start an all consuming argument, and who doesn't find themselves in this situation regularly, simply ask:
Is it a chicken burger or a chicken sandwich?
You're welcome.

‘Fahrenheit is what humans feel’

No, Fahrenheit is what Americans feel

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

@mdreid @skinnylatte @MHowell One of the most common arguments I keep hearing is that Fahrenheit is finer and in Celsius you'd have to use actual fractions to express the same granularity. Except like I've been using Celsius all my life and not even ever once did I think oh it's 20.56 degrees better take off some layers. I am willing to bet a lot on Americans being unable to tell 57 degrees from 58 or 59. This is not how we feel temperature. It's literally all just familiarity. Also now that I think about it nobody ever says it feels like 77 degrees f outside, at least from what I've heard.

A cool thing about JIT is that you can write code that should be slow as hell and it'll still perform OK.
A bad thing about JIT is that you can write code that should be slow as hell and it'll still perform OK.
A worse thing about JIT is that you can write code that should be hella fast but it's actually really slow.

talon,
@talon@dragonscave.space avatar

While we're at it, garbage collection is weird because some things are slow as you'd expect, other things are fast as you'd expect, but then there are the cases where you really think GC should take more time than it does and GC takes more time than you think it should.
