I don't know how feasible this is to implement, but I did a quick mock up of hashtags in #Mastodon. In this design, I propose that we tuck the hashtags away in a special area so it doesn't make the post content harder to read while still preserving the functionality of hashtags.

If a series of hashtags are found at the end of the post's text content, it will be tucked away in the tag list.

Came across a Reddit post that says that apps localized or translated into #Tagalog or #Filipino feel weird. And I agree. Probably because apps rely on automation to translate into TL/FIL. Words like "kanselahin" for cancel, "sundan" for follow (in social media contexts), and "kawing" for link are just not used in everyday Filipino.

Another thing that's funny to me is any attempt to prevent users from right clicking on an image to download it, or to highlight text to copy it. There is no way you can prevent your users from downloading your assets from your webpages, that's just not how the web works.

pointer-events: none? Covering it with a transparent div? Lol. People can edit your CSS, delete your div, or go straight to DevTools' network tab, refresh your page, and then download assets from there.

Ahhh it took too long to write, and it's a whopping 20-minute read. But it's here. I wish someone wrote this when I was going through my own breakup.

Writing this had been burdensome since it required a lot of looking back and reliving of pain and struggle, but I am happy to have written this. As someone once wrote, the struggle you're going through now will be someone else's survival guide in the future. I hope this helps someone at least.

In another shit attempt to criminalize drag performances in the Philippines, drag queen Pura Luka Vega has once again been arrested after Quezon City court released a warrant of arrest for them. They have already been arrested (and has since posted bail) after some sectors filed complaints for them impersonating the religious icon Jesus Christ in one of their drag performances. #Philippines #Drag

Last February 26, Pura Luka Vega posted bail amounting to 720,000 pesos for 6 counts of Violation of Article 201 — Immoral Doctrines, Obscene Publications, and Exhibition and Indecent Shows of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Section 6 of R.A. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) in Pasay City after city prosecutor found partial merit in the complaint filed by the Kapisanan ng mga Social Media Brodkaster ng Pilipinas. Earlier today, Luka was arrested after a QC court issued a warrant of arrest for 3 counts of the same crime. This stemmed from a complaint filed against them by three churches affiliated with the Philippines for Jesus Movement. The recommended bail is 360,000 pesos. To those who would like to help Luka for their bail and legal fees, Naia Black will handle the donation drive. Pura Luka Vega is being represented in court by Leflegis.

I have a question for #accessibility and #internationalization peeps out there. Suppose that I made a post on Mastodon that includes a photo. But the language I use for the post is Tagalog, my native language. Should I write my alt text in Tagalog or English?

The post can be translated by whatever translation service Mastodon uses. But I'm not entirely sure that the alt text would also be translated, especially since I remember that #HTML attributes are not translated, unless that's old news.

Drag Race Philippines and Drag Den really were that impactful because growing up, gay kids only play chinese garter and that game taray-tarayan which is like our own version of a reading challenge before it was cool.
