My Mohawk Maker’s Quarterly came today, along with the sample pack for Mohawk Color Papers I ordered with it.

I’ve been saving my Strathmore Writing and Script samples along with my Mohawk Superfine samples.

My daughter looked through my past Mohawk Maker Quarterlies and was so inspired.

It used to be that I posted a selfie and nobody gave a shit. I’d maybe get a couple likes. Now I’m used to get a certain amount of likes and comments and it’s kind of a problem, because if I post something and it doesn’t “perform” then I start thinking like “Did I look fat? Is it because my boobs are small? I shouldn’t post photos without makeup”. It’s dangerous. I can’t expect every photo to do numbers. I’m a person not a brand.

It dawns on me:

While Coursera wears a mask of academia, all the quizzes & tests are softballs because they don't want to fail anyone. They're selling a product, which is this cert, and they want everyone to pass so as customers we have a Positive Experience and go back to buy another cert.

I just have to get to the end of it. I'm at no risk of failing. There's no academic rigor to this at all, because capitalism.

This is the first Mother’s Day I have ever felt it was a day for me, and not just my Mom.

I’ve been missing her every Mother’s Day for 35 years.

Today was a very good day.
My daughter and son in law came to visit, they brought me purloined lilacs, and we got the patio looking a lot neater.

I managed to get in some begonias too.

I hope everyone had a good day, and a reason to smile.

There are many good suggestions here.

I wear my mask so much I forget I have it on outside very frequently.

It’s also bright pink, so everyone notices!

It’s been hard for us, my husband and me.

I’m safe at home with visitors with our level of air filtration, but I always mask out.

Restaurants are a thing of the past. Take out picnics, maybe.

Thankfully the family loves being outside, so we do that.

No one we know masks. My daughter still doesn’t.

can’t believe people just raw-dogging covid.

at my job, there’s someone who i’m pretty sure has some form of long covid already, she suddenly got extremely sick, but came in to work anyway.
then she tested positive for covid, everyone was aware of that.
she still came to work, wore a surgical mask in the morning, but it was off by the afternoon.
i was the only person there masked at that point.
others were going up and having face to face conversations with her… about having covid!!
the fuck?

Academia can be an incredibly small world. Reflecting on how a protesting professor scuffed up by cops I just saw in a news story, I haven't seen or thought much about since he generously let me sleep on his air mattress when I was in his town for a conference in 2005 or 2006, a lifetime ago

I am home, relaxing.
Trying to relax, anyway.

I’m having my first coffee of the day. It’s made with fresh beans, ground right before brewing with my aeropress.

Grass-fed milk.
It’s pasteurized, of course.

It’s breakfast. 😳 At 7 pm.

I won’t mention this to my nutritionist.

I’m rather frayed this week.
I deserve some slack.

I need some, even if undeserved.

Daughter is coming tomorrow.

He did.

Her new husband adopted me years later.

My Dad found me when I was 20, then we lost each other again for 25 years.
