Actually sat down and played a video game today (valheim) and had a lot of fun.

It's such a great game for when you need a little peaceful escape, with just the right amount of action and adventure. I really do love that game. I think I'll play again tomorrow ! We started fresh characters on a new map and it's been fun getting our little farm going. Exciting!!

I did the blood work for my annual health screening the morning after I got the news about my dad.

Some of the numbers are alarmingly different from last time. Assuming it's stress. I'll ask my doctor if we can do a do-over.

If I compost, that is for 2 main reasons:

One, I care for this planet and I think that we need to be responsible for it. I can't watch the neglectful behavior of men who have become a real danger for it and do nothing. I do not want when the next generations ask me why has your generation destroyed our planet to give them a concert of bullshit excuses, they deserve better.

Two because I noticed every time I eat homegrown food it tastes so much better than any produce you can buy that is very expensive and does not taste good.

Tell me more about the reasons that have pushed you to compost.

@compost one of the nicest things about composting and recycling (both of which are not something my municipality offers assistance with) is seeing the difference in the amount of stuff I'm sending to a landfill.

It's a very big difference, I haven't had a full garbage dumpster in months and months since I started recycling and composting.

Any place I can purchase horestail (Equisetum arvense) spores so I can grow them? Is that how one would propagate them?

They are supposed to be all over the place in disturbed areas but I don't recall seeing them anywhere here in the RTP area of North Carolina.

@copperred mine took 3 separate 40a circuits. Whenever we'd turn the hot water on, all the lights in the house would dim, lol. It also took a long time for the water to get up to temp. I'm sure it was all calcified. @taber @aphyr

I started growing my beard out in August 2023 and didn't cut it until last week..don't get me wrong I think the guy who cut my beard did a good job, but I regret cutting it so short. And to think, all the while I wanted to chop it off! Now I did and I'm sad. Lol

Dad is back in hospice and I think it's the real deal this time. I'm ok, and it's ok. But it's a thing that is happening and that is rough. I'll visit today and tell him about my SF trip.

My dad is also gay, but I think it's always been a great source of shame for him. We were never really able to have any meaningful conversations about sexuality. I have a feeling he was disappointed when I came out.

This Santa hat took me about a week to make, here's the finished product. It's the nicest Santa hat I've ever seen, I'm really proud of it and happy with the result. I think I could finish this project in a day or two of solid stitching. So much fun to crochet, I can't believe how engrossed I get into it. Learning how to do those bobble stitches has given me confidence to try other complex stuff. I saw an awesome strawberry stitch i wanna try! 🍓
