This December, instead of doing the Advent of Code, I will try to pack “100 days of SwiftUI” inside the last 31 days of the year. I’ve never written any Swift, and my only mobile experience was with React Native in 2017, so this should be fun!

During the past 6 months I invoiced a grand total of 11 days so at this point I will code for food, I guess 🫠

I have 15 years of experience from developer to CTO, out of 10 as freelancer, and 2023 will be my worst year ever. Living that while inflation explodes is probably not helping either 🥴

I'm rotating my GnuPG keys so beware if you have my old one.

I'm doing the whole dance today and I'll put the new key in the profile. It'll be signed with the old one (which I'll revoke) so you'll be able to verify it.

It's a lot of work and it reminds me that we should really make this more accessible. We spend billions playing with bullshit AI while avoiding to solve real issues, such as how to make technology more accessible to those without technical expertise.

This weekend I will try to convert a React project into WebComponents (yes, the same project where I replaced Firebase with a custom Rust backend with WebSockets), I hope they have drastically improved since I last looked into them a few years ago 😌

I just stumbled upon something odd while looking at crates.io. It seems that a single user squatted 100+ simple crate names 5 years ago:

The crate names include Rust and C++ keywords and names (new, loop, std, etc...) but also company and brand names (ubuntu, yahoo, gmail, etc...).

friends what do you make of it? This seems very wrong; who should be notified when something like this happens?

I'm doing some deep-thinking about my game. I love so much about it, but it's overscoped for a small team. Turns out building an open world RPG is a lot of work. Who would have thought! Anyway, I have some ideas to downscope without losing what I like about the game. I'll work on those over the next two weeks.

P.S. Maybe I should make a frantic action game called Overscoped where you have to hack your beloved project to death to release it.

I try to read German so rarely that when I do I've noticed that the words I get stuck on are almost invariably ones without apparent cognates in Danish or English. Today's word: urteil. I've encountered it plenty of times before but it doesn't stick. I can't think of any Danish cognates. Certainly the direct translations of "urteil" into Danish ("dom", same root as English "doom") or English ("judgment") aren't etymologically related.

@Meuhwee Je n'utilise quasiment jamais de recettes (et encore moins de doseur ou de balance) donc c'est totalement au pif 😆

En vrac y'a : un potimarron, des marrons en pot que j'ai éclaté en morceaux, de la crème de soja, de la farine, de la sauce soja, du kube or, un peu de poivre et d'échalottes, et un zeste de lait de soja comme pseudo glaçage sur la pâte.

D'ailleurs je viens de tilter que techniquement y'a probablement de l'oeuf et du beurre dans la pâte, je repasserai pour le vegan 🙈
