Anyone have a deck of 52 cards I could have at tomorrow? 🃏

Just gave my card deck to @mathsppblog who's leaving tomorrow and will hopefully spread Cabo to other conferences. Glad it's found a new home but also will want another deck either tomorrow or Monday night.

Really enjoying the roof deck at . Probably chitchatting up here till at least 5pm.

So great to have an outdoor space, shielded from the sun, with plenty of seating and tables, and a gorgeous view of river, bridges, trees, and skyline.

Loved @tonybaloney's lightning talk on counting to 1023 on two hands in binary! I've been showing off this trick for years, but never thought to augment it to give the numbers meanings for the purpose of encoding data. 👏

Show up to the session on Sunday after everything wraps up where Sprint runners will give a 30 second pitch for their project and what they need. Pay attention and take notes and then visit them afterward in the hall and/or during the sprints. You also may be able to chat with one of the folks in charge of helping folks find a sprint room to ask for advice. But they will have less thoughts than the folks running the various sprints on the projects.

So after me nagging him for a year or more @mathsppblog has finally seen the light regarding Mastodon! (Unlikely because of me, but I’ll take the win).

He’s not tooted yet, but if is your thing I highly recommend you follow my fellow ex- developer and one of the 67%.

He sometimes does some maths stuff too I believe. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Out of curiosity, I searched for the hashtag on Mastodon and Twitter and scrolled back 16 hours and started counting posts. 🤔

I counted:

87 posts on Twitter on the PyCon hashtag 🐦

134 posts on Mastodon on the PyCon hashtag 🐘

The PyCon conversations have finally moved (mostly) to Mastodon! 🙌

Not a HUGE difference, but enough that I felt like there was more activity and decided to confirm my suspicion. 💗

here early. Downtown is never F-150 friendly. Found a garage with 6’10” ceilings.

Hoping the hotel valet parking is equally roomy.

Found Nicholas coffee. Found tables in market square park.

Weather (so far) is a delight. Venue looks great.
