When I was a boy, I hated Rubix cubes. I only just figured out why.

I was frustrated by my inability to solve them, and instead of someone teaching me about the cube from first principles everyone from the makers to my family to my teachers wanted to teach me the -algorithm.- They offered rote memorization as the sole solution, and I've never enjoyed that style of learning.

I posit that Texas and Florida will do it first, and within the next 5 years.

I am all in favor of eating the rich, but I honestly think some of them should be quarantined until we know for sure what the heck is wrong with them. I feel like there’s more than a small risk of there being a “mad cow disease” analogue among the wealthy that we might contract by consuming them, and then we’re right back where we started.

I kinda hate that Reddit's real consequences for locking down their API were pretty much zero. The subreddit protests failed to make a significant impact, and Reddit has trucked along smug and happy.

I understand why currency bills have security features (to defeat counterfeiters.) What I don't get is why so many treasuries and national banks advertise their security features. It feels like they're just telling would-be counterfeiters what new hardware to buy to pull it off.

Am I missing something?
