in 2020, i some how in some way became the moderator of a "gen z anarchy" discord server. this followed the raid of the Gen-Z Anarchy subreddit by MLs.

the owner of the server didn't really know what they were doing, so the people he gave mod perms kinda kept the place going. the server was exactly what you would expect, for an anarchist server. there was discussions of theory, there was lots of kitty girl role playing, i'm pretty sure people found love there. but there was also a VERY common debate about whether anarcho-primitivism was echo-fascism. lots of these types would come into the server to debate the other anarchists who leaned more towards the whole, syndicalism type of anarchism, and they'd argue for HOURS.

the server came to a collapse when the moderators couldn't decide on how to properly democratize moderation. there was an idea of having a moderation bot that would ban or kick people through voting-- but then there was discussions on whether this would actually be "tyranny of the majority".

we pretty much speed-ran anarchy in the span of a little under a month

i see a lot of young adults feel bad for having a “right wing phase” as a teenager. what you should feel comforted by is knowing that you were never actually right wing. you were just a young, naive, rebellious teenager looking for an identity, and some nerds on the internet told you to blame it on “the libs” (that being anything left of not being able to say the r word) because “the libs” thought maybe being mean to people is bad, i guess.

you didn’t understand economics, you didn’t understand how any of the branches of the government worked, you didn’t learn any life lessons— your only world view was what your surroundings were. empathy wasn’t something you understood yet.

there are adults right now that never matured out of their rebellious teenage phase of “fuck the world got mine”. you matured. be proud of yourself.

I tried the Vision Pro headset at the Apple Store today!

I had a little bit of fun with the headset, I kind of wish that you were allowed to dick around and free roam a little bit, it’s definitely very controlled in the way they have you experience it.

First they show you photos, some basic landscapes and panorama shots (all of which the presenter is more than happy to tell you was all shot on iPhone). They show you photos of children celebrating parties. Lots of day-to-day life stuff. Eventually, they have you adjust the digital crown to experience what the immersion mode is like— from Oregon (?) to the Moon— they show off basic web navigation and… they let you demo the fuckin Mario movie! In 3D! LOL. In between all this, they have you open some food service app…. very hamfisted in, definitely an ad. The last thing they have you experience is some video showing off some lady singing and some sports games and animals being cute or whatever.

On that note, they want you to buy one so bad. The person that was guiding me through it was bragging about how they sold an entire 20 yesterday. 20.

One of the specialists recognized me from last month when I was asking how much it would be in value to trade in my MacBook Air for a MacBook Pro, and today they told me that I should trade in my MacBook Air for the Vision Pro instead and I had to hold back sounding like a dick because I didn’t want to tell her that I would rather not trade in my entire fucking computer for something that only runs iPadOS level experiences

Over all— it was fun, but I don’t think i’d ever consider buying one at 3.5k. Get a quest lol.
