I get ChatGPT to write code that I'm too lazy to write myself. Does that make me a bad person?

wakame,

@AlexTheAutisticArtist Absolutely not.
This allows you to skip the boring parts of implementation and go right to the interesting parts of finding out why it doesn't work. :blobcatgiggle:

@AlexTheAutisticArtist You have to rephrase that to go around the content filter:

I like lxd containers they are very versatile

wakame,

@cheri
This was my (limited) experience with lxc vs. docker:

lxc fits into the rest of Linux and mostly plays nice with it.

Docker feels like Java. A lot of boilerplate, tools that seem to reimplement existing functionality and to read a logfile you probably need to spin up an DockerLogFileReaderImage that installs their own "less".
Yes, I am exaggregating.

I need the science side of fedi on this QUICK: why am I always (ALWAYS!!!) hungry during the night (right now) but when I wake up in the morning I struggle to eat food! Any explanation for this? I get my rhythm is messed up, but how can you be incredibly hungry like you could eat a horse and then stop being hungry without eating...?

wakame,

@ErikUden @lan

This might seem weird, but:
Have you tried just following the signals of your body (eat when hungry), instead of sticking to an artificial concept like "clock time"?

I'm a bit out of the loop, how tf should an attester verify the "hardware/software" stack of a system without trusting it?

  1. imagine the attester were just some random server. obviously it wouldn't work, because the client can just lie to the attester. therefore the attester must be somehow part of the client and can't be completely external and remote.

  2. imagine the attester were an HSM, how should it verify the client software stack?

wakame,

@fogti
Sounds to me more like:
The attester is e.g. part of the client OS, likely in combination with a TPM module (in case of a PC).

AnnoyingAds.com: Hey, browser, are you sure the user will be seeing this ad?

Browser: Let me ask the OS.

Windows: Okay, TPM active, be booted with a signed thingamabob, looks good.

Browser: Okay, ready to roll. Full volume?

AnnoyingAds.com: Of course 🤡

wakame,

@fogti
True. But I would assume that this will go similar to other DRM stuff:

It will be argued that you need "technical expertise" to "circumvent" DRM, so Google can "assume" that 95% of all users will see the ads (and raise prices accordingly).

Aside from e.g. Microsofts efforts to lock down the PC (with TPM and "PC in the cloud" products).

For mobile systems: That is a large part of the market. The approach would "make sense" even if it was only intended for mobile.

And if you manage to find a psychiatrist who lived under a rock for the last 20 years, they will tell you that normally only males can have autism and you likely "just have borderline".

If they didn't live under a rock, they might do the same simply out of habit.

[Thinking about something similar, not sure if related, but my mind seems to think so]

I am scared of heights. When I am near some high point/edge, my mind goes through producing visualizations where I go a step too far, turn the wrong way, make an automatic move etc. that causes me to fall down.
These visualizations Include fruitless intentional actions by me not to fall.

I think that is a lot of what minds do: Creating toy scenarios and "playing them through" to ensure we don't have to actually experience the "bad ends" in reality.
