What are things that you were spoiled by in the open source community? As in, things you were exposed to at some point, and accepted as normal, until you found out that in the grand scheme of things they were quite exceptional?

Some of mine are:

  • linux.conf.au: conferences being full of kind people, brilliant talks and inspirational keynotes.
  • OpenStack: "docs or it didn't happen".
  • Linux kernel: "we don't break userspace".

@lightweight Ah yeah, that's another one for OpenStack for me: gated commits, near 100% test coverage, and "core" people can't circumvent CI.

A pod stuck in ContainerCreating in your namespace means you need to delete a completely different pod in the kube-system namespace so that your pod recovers, because of course it does you uneducated brute.

If you're evaluating a hosted solution, which pricing model do you prefer:

A — pay per container: cost accumulates based on how many containers you run, and for how long, and what resource requests they come with.

B — pay per node: cost accumulates based on how many worker nodes you run, and how beefy they are. The number of containers you run only indirectly affects your cost, via autoscaling.

@sandzwerg @cardes You mean you're not aware of any vendor that does this? (I ask because I'm not. At least not of any vendor that will let you use a standard Kubernetes API client to interact with your cluster, while offering this kind of pricing.)

Any other fans of 3D Blu-ray or stereoscopic media in general? It's a niche within a niche! Here are some fun ones...

  • Latest releases from Random Space Media (yes, that's Sing 2 - not available due to mastering error)
  • LEGO Batman, via modified Nvidia 3D vision on Samsung active 3DTV (support for 3D was removed from the driver a few years ago)
  • Some fun ones recently delivered (e.g. Mockingjay Part 1, only available in German multi-packs)
