My biggest problem with is that it forces everyone to make earning money their primary objective.

Not to provide valuable services for society.
Not to make sure that people don't suffer.
Not to preserve our environment.

All these things are just optional side effects to the main objective of making money, and will be easily discarded if doing the opposite turns out to be more lucrative.

@bkastl Das verwende ich auch als Standard-Textbaustein, als positiver formulierte Alternative zu "entschuldigen Sie bitte die Wartezeit". Manche Dinge dauern halt ein bisschen, zum Teil liegt das auch außerhalb meines Einflusses, daher muss ich mich nicht dafür entschuldigen — aber ich kann der Gegenseite für die Geduld danken.

If you're evaluating a hosted solution, which pricing model do you prefer:

A — pay per container: cost accumulates based on how many containers you run, and for how long, and what resource requests they come with.

B — pay per node: cost accumulates based on how many worker nodes you run, and how beefy they are. The number of containers you run only indirectly affects your cost, via autoscaling.

Dass ChatGPT ein bayerisches Abitur bestehen kann, zeigt doch auch nur, dass Schule im wesentlichen daraus besteht, Bekanntes auswendig zu lernen und auf Kommando abzuspulen, nicht. Anstatt das Wissen der einzelnen Fächer untereinander zu etwas Neuem zu verknüpfen.

@stiefkind Ich hab vor kurzem einen Vortrag gehalten, in dem ich das, was mir in der Schule vermittelt wurde, in den folgenden 3 Sätzen zusammengefasst habe:

  1. Hier sind Regeln.
  2. Wende die Regeln an, dann bist du gut.
  3. Wende die Regeln perfekt an, dann bist du ausgezeichnet.

@frank Was ja letztendlich nur bedeutet, dass die Menschen, denen das alles schon als Kind eingetrichtert wurde, jetzt Entscheidungsträger sind.

Benchmark hier, PISA dort, und Lehre wird letztendlich zum Abhaken von Checklisten. Woher kommt das? Von Menschen, die das perfekte Abarbeiten von Regelwerken als zwingendes Mittel zum Erfolg sehen.

Semi-relatedly, ðis reminds me of ðe idea ðat came to me a while ago, namely to reintroduce ðe letters Þ and Ð to ðe English language. Ðat would make many þings so much more readable!

(Or maybe — since English borrows þings from languages the world over — ðey could take a hint from Croatian. It wud mek Ingliš orþografy mač isia tu lærn!)

I'm curious, how do you access your home's instance while on the go?

Edit: option 3 is meant to include access to a local instance via VPN. It just that adding "VPN" would have broken the character limit for the poll option.
