The birds never noticed the suet cakes in the 2-sided suet cage so, inspired by a cat owner who groomed his cat then stuffed his suet cage with floof, I did the same with dog fur when I groomed my dogs, big dog's short undercoat on one side, little dog's long undercoat on the other. The birds ignored it till March, then emptied it overnight. I could see the fur sticking out of the birdhouses till they tidied up.
