@metin

This makes me think we should legitimize those who either leave or detox from reich wing technofascist sites and those who still have a twitter account etc dont get a seat at the discussion table

@metin no offense to you (of course) but I think the article is part of the problem.

  1. The headline is completely different from the findings of the study which says "mostly no effect at all"

  2. The article says without Social Media the people where less likely to believe false information. But This numbers are not put into perspective. Was it 50% less or 0.1%?

  3. No analysis on how the setup was actually constructed and data was gathered.

@metin So all that remains is a article constructed to already fit into an already established world view of "social media is bad" without any real possibility for the reader to put this results in perspective and think about it on a deeper level.

This behavior is what causes problems in the first place. Not social media.

If you cant control your algoaddiction you should be treated just like any other drug addict or drunk driver

@rticks @metin that sounds like an easy to make statement but I don't really understand what that should mean.

I don't think there is only one-fits-all treatment for all different kinds of addictions.

At which point would "can't control" be considered to be the case and has believing false information actually anything to do with not being able to control consumption? So for me all that is not clear that's why at this point I would not support a general saying like that.

@feyter @metin

Algoaddiction for most isnt like heroin addiction, its more like smoking which you cant do indoors anymore

people who willingly indulge in self destructive behavior can and should be called out for such

I am not saying make facebook illegal, I merely saying use the truth

people who subject themselves willingly and knowingly to toxic mental manipulation are not as truthworthy as people who avoid it via common sense
