“A state judge overseeing the election-interference case against Trump in #Georgia has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 15 to hear evidence regarding accusations that #FaniWillis & her lead prosecutor engaged in an improper relationship and mishandled public money.
Judge Scott McAfee also wrote in his order that Willis must respond to the accusations in writing by Feb. 2” #TrumpIndictment
Notably, the evidentiary hearing will be held after a scheduled Jan. 31 hearing in Cobb County over the unsealing of documents related to Wade’s divorce.
Roman’s attorney stated in a filing that the divorce documents contain evidence of Wade’s alleged relationship w/ Willis.
@GottaLaff Yeah. That she hasn’t already made written statement (that I’m aware of) doesn’t help. Have to see what she files. Read something the other day about her denying favorable pay rate (said it was lower than when repub admin used him) but didn’t deny relationship. Hopefully she didn’t violate law or ethics rules of GA.
@GottaLaff The fact that she has virtually been silent about the accusations suggest there may be some there there. 👀 Having a relationship with co-counsel is ill-advised but not illegal. More importantly, I hope the suggestion of misuse of govt funds is BS. It would be unfortunate if that is true since it might not change the facts of the case, but it could cause many to question the reliability of the facts, perhaps. 😬
Willis has been subpoenaed to give a pretrial deposition in the divorce case on Jan. 23, but in a court filing the DA’s attorney said that subpoena should be quashed
Willis contends that Wade’s estranged wife “has conspired with interested parties" in the Trump case "to use the civil discovery process to annoy, embarrass and oppress" the DA.
She said Wade's wife is also “obstructing and interfering" with the Trump case

@GottaLaff I have been highly impressed with Fani Willis, her intelligence, and her legal acumen, throughout the GA criminal process.
But one thing missing from everything she has said thus far is an actual denial of a sexual affair with Wade.
While I have no clue if that would be enough to affect the RICO case against Trump et al (I suspect not), if true, the allegation at a minimum shows cronyism and an extraordinary lapse in judgment on the part of someone who needs to be squeaky clean.
@CarlG@GottaLaff but playing to the public puts her in TFG's game. She's not a politician. I respect that she will testify about that within the legal system.
@GottaLaff Ugh. This is exactly what I didn't want to hear. Its incredibly bad judgement to involve people in a prosecution, if you're involved romantically with them. And yes, Ms. Willis should have known better.
The public expects the prosecutor to be without skeletons on their closet because you know Trump and his ilk are dirty. Its why blackmail is effective. And Ms. Willis just handed Trump what he needs and wants.
@GottaLaff The problem with the #Willis and Wade affair is that the mere perception of impropriety is enough to tank trust and reputation. The more one denies impropriety or tries to explain it away, the worse the situation gets from a purely subjective POV — in this case, the POV of potential jurors. It is crisis management time for the DA office! I dearly hope we are not seeing a case of hubris.
@GottaLaff Maybe so, but it does not change the guilt of Donald Trump and the other defendants, not in the least. It’s just dirty smear tactics to deliberately delay and divert.
Seems slow. And for the first time in this #Trump nightmare I’m pleased with the plodding approach. I thinkhope this is #McAfee showing any alleged shenanigans don’t undo grand jury decisions, butt I’m no Alina #Habba, who seems to only hope.
To the fair and balanced, the microfarts passed by the forces for good smell worse than the unpumped and overflowing septic tanks of the gland old party. Fani’s a badass either way, and she *will exact a toll.
