Yet Trump wasn’t the target for possible gag orders and McAffee’s zingers, #FaniWillis was.
Via Kyle Griffin:
Judge Scott McAfee had written his order on Willis and Wade early last week, according to NBC News, but because he had been receiving threats, he waited to make it public in order to allow for proper security to be in place for him and his family.
"The judge overseeing the Georgia election interference case against former President Donald Trump and his allies has thrown out six criminal counts from the indictment.
Trump now faces 10 felony charges in Georgia, instead of 13."
These GOP phishing expedition witch hunts are ignorant and insulting. Everyone sees right through them. Just because they've fooled themselves they are deluded to think they can fool others.
"No active judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit was interested in sitting en banc to rehear Mark Meadows’ case for moving his Georgia RICO case to federal court, the court said Wednesday in a brief denial."
"...following my #Keyser Söze theory, that means that #Willis also predicted that on Jan. 2, 2021, then-President #DonaldTrump would call #Georgia Secretary of State #BradRaffensperger and demand that he “find 11,780 votes”; that she knew on Jan. 6, 2021,...
"The stakes could not be higher. And yet, in my opinion, Judge #McAfee’s decision is an easy one with a clear path:
👉The defense’s failure to provide the legally required evidence to disqualify #Willis means that the judge can deny the motion to dismiss and to disqualify. "👈
I just heard some asininity from someone who should have known better. A friend of mine, an editor not long out of some of D.C.'s biggest and most prestigious political-news outlets, claimed that Fulton County DA Fani Willis had disgraced herself and disqualified her office and that it was a huge story.
Never mind that we had two days' worth of fact-finding and came nowhere near any such conclusion. 1/

One can only hope that if McAfee is leaning toward a disqualification, that a little birdie will tell Fani #Willis so she can step away and her office can continue. An order of disqualification would delay the case to 2025 or derail it forever.
Remember that #Willis has the option to step aside any time before #McAfee announces his ruling. That would allow the Fulton County DA's office to to send subs out to the field and continue the game.

IF and only if #Willis is likely to be disqualified, then she should step aside, in order to allow her team to continue the case.
The case is more important.
Having said that, I think #McAfee will not disqualify her. The case will continue.
This coverage of #Willis makes sense (unlike the hand ringing and cowardice of others who are calling for her to exit b/c of optics something something): "The hearing was ostensibly about whether her romantic relationship with the special prosecutor she hired to manage the RICO election interference case was disqualifying. But that was a thin veil over the roiling cauldron of disrespect, racist tropes, and public humiliation that the defendants were indulging in."

#GymJordan: Ms #Willis, did you have an ill-advised, albeit consensual relationship with a man?
#FaniWillis: Mr Chairman, you’ll hear people say from time to time how they can’t help who it is they fall in #love with. Less common are expressions of how easy they find it to ignore for years the cries of athletes under their care being abused by their doctors at #OhioState University. Next question.
The #evidence against #Trump & his 17 co-defendants in #Georgia is the same whether presented by Fani #Willis or any other prosecutor. The same.
Would it have made a difference in their deliberations If the grand jurors knew or suspected that Willis was having an affair with a co-worker? Maybe, but only if it caused them to doubt the evidence. After all. Willis wasn't a jilted lover of Trump or a co-defendant or one of their attorneys.
We should be asking how Jocelyn Wade was approached, by whom & what incentive she had to supply confidential documents.
Do you still have faith in Fani #Willis because IF the accusations are true, her fate is in the hands of Fulton County & the State Bar of #Georgia NOTHING else has changed.
We can be disappointed...BUT
Don't lose sight of what's at risk by falling prey to Trump's #smear campaign.
"The filing says that the subpoena is being sought 'in an attempt to harass and damage Willis’ professional reputation and accuses Joycelyn Wade of having 'conspired with interested parties in the criminal Election Interference Case to use the civil discovery process to annoy, embarrass, and oppress' the district attorney."
“A state judge overseeing the election-interference case against Trump in #Georgia has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 15 to hear evidence regarding accusations that #FaniWillis & her lead prosecutor engaged in an improper relationship and mishandled public money.
Judge Scott McAfee also wrote in his order that Willis must respond to the accusations in writing by Feb. 2” #TrumpIndictment
@GottaLaff The problem with the #Willis and Wade affair is that the mere perception of impropriety is enough to tank trust and reputation. The more one denies impropriety or tries to explain it away, the worse the situation gets from a purely subjective POV — in this case, the POV of potential jurors. It is crisis management time for the DA office! I dearly hope we are not seeing a case of hubris.
Fulton Co. District Attorney Fani Willis slammed House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) for attempting to “interfere with a state criminal matter” in the prosecution of former President Donald Trump and 18 co-conspirators.
Willis hit back, writing that Jordan’s letter included “inaccurate information and misleading statements.”
…#Sadow has said he will file a motion to #dismiss the charges & move to #sever#Trump’s case from other co-defendants, including… Kenneth #Chesebro, who are seeking a #SpeedyTrial in the matter.
Last wk, McAfee approved an Oct 23 #TrialDate for Chesebro, though #Willis has argued she wants to try all 19 defendants, incl’g Trump, on that date.
Trump is also expected to follow… #MarkMeadows in seeking to move his case from state to #FederalCourt.
