It is becoming increasingly obvious that homelessness in the US has a strong correlation with poor mental health and substance abuse.

For some reason, it was not permitted to use Medicaid to cover longterm psychiatric treatment in a facility that had more than 16 beds which in turn led to fewer facilities and fewer overall beds.

Those who are homeless, addicted to drugs, and unable to hold any sort of job are incredibly vulnerable and obviously unable to pay the exorbitant costs of treatment. The fact that this law is being repealed is a good thing because it means that (1) those that need treatment will be (better) able to access it and (2) facilities will be able to have more than 16 beds and accept medicaid.

To be clear, much still needs to be done to fix the US healthcare system and this is not enough. But, repealing this law is a good thing regardless.
