We've heard Twitter used to be the go-to place for the OSINT community, but not since Musk took over. Is that true? 👀 Do you find Mastodon better or worse than Twitter for #OSINT research? What are your thoughts on other platforms?
@sylkegruhnwald sprach mit Strafrechtsprofessorin Monika Simmler zu #Ethik und Gefahren von Open Source Intelligence, also der Nutzung öffentlicher Informationen für die Strafverfolgung. Dabei wird intensiv die Problematik der #Biometrie erläutert.
Simmler vertritt dabei die Ansicht, dass #Gesichtserkennung durch CH-Behörden aktuell verboten sei, da nicht explizit erlaubt.
#DNIP hat übrigens schon 2021 die Firmen kritisiert, welche solche globalen #Gesichtserkennung|ssysteme betreiben (und auch ihr, ähm, seltsames Verständnis zu Datenschutz sowie Offshoring). Der Fokus damals #ClearviewAI, mit kurzem Abstecher zu #PimEyes, welche im #Simmler-Interview ⬆️ auch Thema ist.

Those sure look like the same microwave horns that were used in the old telephone long-lines network. Looking at the Google Maps satellite view it seems the antennas are gone now, which would track given that most of the long-lines stuff has been dismantled. Suggests this photo was taken a while ago.

@mattieuMattieu Yeah I recall a significant fraction of the structure being galvanized every time I went there, maybe they just increased the percentage that was galvanized vs painted?
