Is the title supposed to sound like a Narcotics Anonymous meeting or am I just projecting?

Chariotwheel,

In a way social media is a drug and most of us were addicted. At least I was on Reddit, because I liked being there. So not using it, especislly when it was kind of a habit may not be easy for many on virtue fo that alone.

I’m still grieving the Reddit that was.

Now, I’m excited for the threadiverse that could be.

It hurts to lose everything we had, but leaving is the only way to have better platforms in the future.

Chariotwheel,

It's also not that bad. Most okder users went through plenty of online communities.

True enough. I'm just a young lad who grew up in the age of social media centralization, so this is my first real platform migration.

digitalspork,

Having come from helping run some very large communities as well as a lot of niche communities.

Kbin and Lemmy give me the same kind of feeling Reddit gave me almost 12+ years ago.

I dropped Reddit the day before the blackout. Dropped that garbage and moved on.

julesiecoolsie,

Wefwef is nearly identical to Apollo, I don’t miss Reddit one bit. Fediverse is better so far, and I get to keep using the Apollo I love.

Borscht,

Same. A lot of the communities I loved had already left so it made it worlds easier. Honestly, my first frolick with Lemmy, kbin, and mastodon really have me more excited to see what comes out of all this

Pete99,

Kinda reminds me of the feeling I had when I left Digg for Reddit.

Same.

BehelitOutlaw,

Will Boost come to iOS? Loved Boost when I was on Android

CornHead764,

I’m enjoying Lemmy, but the migration has been painful for me because of the random answers to very specific questions that pop up in Google searches. I blocked Reddit.com on my dns server a few weeks ago, and I have lost count of the number of times I’ve had to copy/paste a Reddit link from a Google search into archive.org, or view the Google cached version just to get the answer without giving Reddit the traffic. It’s going to be a long time before that problem goes away, and I don’t know I have the patience to keep up with viewing the cached versions

SkyerixBOI,

Been lamenting losing some niche subreddits that I frequented, but it almost makes me want to start those communities here on lemmy.

Im sure there are a few people who have the same idea but dont know how to like myself.

Ah well, maybe myself or someone else will get around to it soon enough.

Peanut_Larry,

I’ve also been mourning the loss of some of my smaller subreddits and thinking of re-creating them here. If you do end up doing so yourself, consider making one last post on those old subs to recommend others join as well!

cultsuperstar,

I've lurked and posted some, but /all just seems different.

quadrotiles,

I’m missing some of the niche hobby subs, and I feel they’re unlikely to migrate. There are just too many resources built up. But we’ll see! If they come over, I’ll switch to Lemmy full time

BoxOfFeet,

When I got here a couple days ago, there was no fountain pen community. Now, there is! I’m sure your niche hobbies will form here, too.

quadrotiles,

I hope so! I just am unsure if there is much motivation for the communities to migrate over here. They’re mostly non-tech and even the subreddits for some of them aren’t super active. Hopefully the ones with the more active subs will at least make their way over :)

xc2215x,

I understand. Spez harmed Reddit.

sixlive,

Yeah, it's been super weird constantly opening Apollo due to muscle memory but haven't logged back in since the 1st.

Telvayn,

That’s why I put wefwef right where Apollo used to be.

running4croissants,

I went back this morning to check what subs I followed so that I can find the same or equivalent over here!

I'm still checking it because Infinity for Reddit isn't "dead" yet. I used Sync too, so I'm waiting for Sync for Lemmy/kbin! (I know it's coming out in about 5 weeks according to the developer of Sync.)
