The Migration seems to be going well! 125k on kbin.social instance alone, and over 100k across Lemmy!

Feels like being part of internet history. I wonder how many of us have accounts on both :D.

EDIT - turns out I was wrong - here's a better way of seeing the stats for the "Threadiverse":

https://fedidb.org/current-events/threadiverse - we're up to 169,312 users now!

allmaechd,

I have a feeling a lot of people do have double accounts. Do you have any numbers of before the reddit fuckuppery of late? I’d have thought it would be more than 125k, since there were many many millions affected, right?

@allmaechd I'd assume a good number of users are doubling up at the moment. Its like finding a new burger place. You try a few out before deciding on your favorite.

I had accounts on both, but deleted my lemmy.ml account after the info on the admins of that instance and their genocide denial.

jinno,

I'm definitely registered on both Lemmy and Kbin. So there's definitely plenty of doubling up happening.

Also - given that this is a protest - many users who were less addicted power users see the suggested 2 day period as likely easy to wait through. If a lot of subs turnout to be indefinitely privated, then there may be a stronger push toward migration in the more casual groups.

jake,

I have accounts on like 5 different Lemmy instances, as well as kbin.social and fedia.io. Mostly using the main kbin instance though. I like it the most.

I have an account on both. Mainly because I heard about Lemmy first and then preferred the layout of Kbin.

I have an account on both. Once federation is working, I'm not sure which one to keep. I like the UI of Kbin but Lemmy has an app.

I have an account on both, but I find myself depending more time on Kbin. I like the interface here.

Same here. Both are very new though, and I know I've seen discussion on Lemmy about lots of features already being considered or suggested. It's fun being at the beginnings of something. I will say that Lemmy (.one) feels faster to me than Kbin.social, but I don't know if that's server load, a different routing (with the secure thing popping up), or something else. But it's good so far, just have wait sometimes for a click to register.

mkbandit,

Kbin was definitely slower yesterday. Today seems snappier

justanotherjo,

I'm with you... I signed up for both, and am glad I did since the content is different. Sure, there is some overlap, but there are also definite differences. I prefer the Kbin interface though.

Originally also created 2 accounts but after some Lemmy reading and not feeling the UI, I deleted the account. Kbin's UI just felt nicer to me. Wonder how many people did the same or just keeping one of each account for now.

People really do sleep on the UI. I tried lemmy.world first and immediately got hit with a white background/black text site. I couldn't find a way to change it so I moved over to Kbin. Same deal, flashbang. But on Kbin the gear icon is obvious and the first setting is the site theme. That speaks to an understanding of the average user that I think will serve Kbin well.

It's a lot more pleasing and familiar. When the blackout ends I'm going to spend the remaining time I've allotted myself (until 6/30) attempting to push kbin on subs I frequent. From there, I'll start working on federating as I please, but of all the lemmy/fediverse instances I've tried I find this the most familiar for sure and this will be "home base".

Micromot,

Although Tildes is not part of the fediverse it also has a very nice interface which kind of reminds me of old reddti(maybe because i rarely used old reddit.

danieljoeblack,

Too bad it's invite only right now,but I agree it's very promising!

I'm sure many are waiting for the 2 days to be up and rejoin their subreddits. Hopefully they see the light and come to the fediverse. The downside is that much traffic at once would destroy all fediverse servers. A slow trickle is better

Kichae,

All we need is a strong core to stick around and keep this space active. Reddit will do the rest for us over the next couple of years...
