How do I subscribe to a Lemmy community from kbin PWA?

exohuman,

@ShellSurf

@Imotali

another way is to search for it in the magazines list but leave out the exclamation mark.

Awesome thanks. Also, now I have experience with my first notification since you tagged me. Learning!

  • ninjirate,

    Communities/magazines don't sync right away, someone has to try to access the community from kbin first then in the background the federating starts. Sometimes is takes a while but once it's done all the new posts/comments will show up but not the older stuff. It looks like the pathfinder2e is working now at least for me.

    DarkThoughts,

    For me it shows "empty" and only 5 subscribers.

    Kichae,

    That's because the back catalogue of posts don't get sent when you subscribe, any more than the back catalogue of magazines get sent if you subscribe to National Geographic.

    bionicjoey,

    Heads up! There is also a Pathfinder dedicated Lemmy instance: Pathfinder.social

    distantorigin,

    Welcome to the fediverse!

    z3n0x,

    Welcome to the fediverse!

    Scope,

    Got suspended for criticizing spez

    You done a bad thing… you done a bad, bad, no-good thing.

    I'm a bad girl, what can I say. He's starting to ban people just for mentioning Lemmy too lol.

    rockprada,

    Welcome to the party!

    Welcome, I came over earlier this week. Once you get your head around different instances and people from kbin and mastodon answering in teh same post (which is cool) and the occasional errors (or isues when errors don't appear whe they should) which should be patched soon, hopefully, lemmy seems to give more freedom than reddit.

    Imotali,
    @Imotali@lemmy.world avatar

    Side note: the fact I can make a post and comment on a community in a completely different instance without having to make multiple accounts is awesome.

    ulu_mulu,
    @ulu_mulu@lemmy.world avatar

    Not just a completely different instance, but a completely different platform. This thread is hosted on kbin, you and me are posting from lemmy, how awesome is that?

    Anarch157a,

    You can even read en reply to Kbin or Lemmy thread from Mastodon. I tested it myself and it's awesome.

    ulu_mulu,
    @ulu_mulu@lemmy.world avatar

    Yes, lemmy is not actually directly connected with mastodon but kbin is.

    0110010001100010,

    Probably a dumb question as I'm new to all of this, but how can you tell where someone is posting from?

    Lantech,
    Lantech avatar

    On kbin, if you over over a persons name, the popout shows the @ of where they're from.

    0110010001100010,

    Oh, cool! I should have figured that out, lol. Thanks!!

    Anarch157a,

    On Kbin, hover the mouse over the "more" menu under the post/replies and click on "copy URL to fediverse", that will send you to the original instance.

    ulu_mulu,
    @ulu_mulu@lemmy.world avatar

    By the tooltip on the username, hovering on yours says "0110010001100010@kbin.social" for me for example, if you hover on mine you'll see "ulu_mulu@lemmy.world".

    If there's nothing after the @ it means the user is on the same server/platform as yours, if there's something after the @ that's the name of the server/platform they're writing from.

    Edit: the same is true for communities, this thread appears to me as posted on RedditMigration to the "Threadiverse"@kbin.social, because I'm on a different server (platform in this case) so I see what's after the @.

    You see the community as just RedditMigration to the "Threadiverse" because you're on kbin.social that's the same server where the community exists.

    Not sure it's clear, tell me if it's not :)

    big_slap,

    hey thanks for making this clear to me. can I view and post on other places like mastadon? that's the part I can't wrap my head around trying to do from my instance

    ulu_mulu,
    @ulu_mulu@lemmy.world avatar

    I know mastodon users can post here, but I haven't found a way to post on mastodon from lemmy, I don't know if it's possible, sorry.

    It's certainly possible form kbin tho.
