When he was attacked a few years ago as he left a club one night, I noted how long it took the MSM to report it.
He's a national level journalist and yet the #BBC had to be shamed into covering it for eg. It turned out it was a planned attack by the hard right - chatter all over the football chat boards in advance - and yet...
He is indeed a brave lad with a good eye usually for social justice - but he got the JC anti-semitism thing badly wrong sadly.
@JimmyB Did you see his interview with Lewis Goodall on The News Agents podcast? I've only watched clips but he does admit being on the wrong side of that - something I've never known other journalists of his reach do.
@fkamiah17 I didn't! And I will listen: I like that podcast quite a lot though I really did not like Lewis's interview wth JC at all: it was just disgraceful actually.
Makes me sounds like some massive Corbynista - and I'm really not (though he was a good consitutency MP for me as a student).
I just cannot stand the slurring of him on an issue where he has led the pack from the front for decades. It's so outrageous and Lewis repeated all the old BS and just did not listen to the answers...
@JimmyB It has its moments but the presenters haven't really shaken off their BBC worldview, except on a very few occasions - apart from Jon Sopel swearing all the time 😂
Lewis Goodall gets on my nerves tbh.
I have to admit I'm changing my view about JC but I can't countenance having him as party leader again. He was dismal during the hung Parliament and the idea that you refusing to answer questions from the electorate because you find them distasteful shows your principles is for the birds.
@fkamiah17 Yeah - I wouldn't want him as leader either tbh. But there has been a massive wrong perpetrated against him for cynical, political reasons - and until that is sorted (it never will be), I'm going to avoid voting #Labour
And when I look I find that he has an order or two more personal integrity than almost any other politician on the scene. It's a low bar.
And for the rest of the PLP? Campaigning against him to give us Boris: un-forgive-able
@JimmyB All of the shadow cabinet are guilty of that - it's why they're in the shadow cabinet! I admit I was hoodwinked to a certain extent by the AS investigations, and used to respect a lot of the major actors in it, like Luciana Berger and Margaret Hodge, which I'm embarrassed about now.
What I find difficult to accept is that what's left of the "progressive wing" haven't just walked away and set up as independents, particularly because of the party's stance on Gaza.

Yeah - Margaret Hodge does that 'holier than thou' thing in spades but the reality is she is completely unhinged and eaten by anti-semitism conspiracy. She sees it everywhere - though it suits her well, when she finds it in people she already hates. And she hates with a passion.
Her anti-tax avoidance stuff is all lovely - until you find how compromised she is personally on all of that.
She has been a moral stain on the country for decades.

Turns out her dad left Germany as a single young man, before Nazism, to join the family business in Cairo. She was born in Egypt about a decade later. Her use of offshore trusts in Panama and Lichtenstein to avoid tax is also a disgrace - she’s a major shareholder the family business Stemcor, the world's largest privately owned steel company. She’s a nasty piece.

@JimmyB Exactly this. One part of that Lewis Goodall interview that I saw was Jones talking about his disgust at Emily Thornberry justifying collective punishment on national television. Did you see the reports that volunteers in JC's constituency have been locked out of the databases used for canvassing? The party have announced that Paul fucking Mason - of all people! - will be standing against him in his constituency.
From what I understand, his constituent absolutely love him.

Agree on Goodall - he's as vacuous as almost all of his fellow "commentators" - I hesitate to call him a journalist.
