@tantramar this is why we say “promenade the canine” around here until within five minutes of actually walking the dog.

We've had to go back to putting Joni's gentle leader on for walks as she has begun pulling so badly again (in our area, dogs must be on leashes, even in the woods) . She hates it too, but after a short bit, she doesn't seem to notice it any longer. She barks like a lunatic when we are getting ready. I have to put her outside to wait, or I would go deaf.
